I was thinking of adding an interesting hobby and someone mentioned lucid dreaming. I thought that sounded like something fun. I've had a couple LD's in the past though I think they were just chance occurances.

Right now I'm interested in DILD's. I've read many intro posts and I have already started my own DJ. Told myself I'll give this at least a month to at least improve dream recall. I know it can a couple months to a year to start LDing.

Here's what I'm doing (Sorry it's so long):

I've been focusing on awareness for the main part. I also include reality checks as well. I've been doing around 200+ reality checks + taking in my surroundings and awareness each time. This is done by setting an alarm on my laptop to remind me, though I've started to do it without being reminded.

As for awareness, here's an example of what I might do: I'll be lying in bed using my laptop and when I remember to think about it I'll immediately stop whatever I'm doing to and dedicate all my attention to the question "Am I dreaming?" I'll bring up my hand and carefully look at it, counting individually all the fingers and looking at the 3 big palm wrinkles and taking in the detail such as the shadows. I tell myself "I can easily count 5 fingers. If I was sleeping I wouldn't be able to do that." Then I might look at my t-shirt and say, "I got that from The Gap" and bring up that memory quickly. Is it a good idea to look at ones own clothing? Or better just to not draw attention to the self and just stick with surroundings?

Another thing I do is I might pick up any object around me. Let's say my cell phone, and drop it on my bed to test gravity. I might try to bend it, and I really do try to be hopeful that it'll bend... I figure that all electronics should have writing on it, and I know I have plenty of electronic things in my dreams, so I'll try to read what's on the phone.

I've been asking "Where am I?" "Where was I last?" "What was I doing there?" every now and then, especially when I'm out of the house.

Each time I'll do a new check so I won't become bored and tire of asking the exact same question to the point were I don't care and it becomes routine. Does this sound okay? I'd like a few tips if possible on what I can do to improve. I'd rather learn from others mistakes now if possible.

Thanx for reading
