A Dream Guide is said to be a manifestation of your subconscious. It's believed that you can ask him/her (basicly yourself) questions and get answers you might not know you knew.

Try summoning it by shouting "DG appear!" or something similar. I haven't done it before and I'm pretty sure that most people who claims have met their DG after doing just that and succeeding haven't met their "true" DG. I can't see how we would associate the term DG with our subconscious. Unless you visualize and focus on the DG being just that for a long time beforehand.

Well the term "dream guide" was never official as DILD or WILD is. It's not a thing that has be proven and seen and done. If you say the WILD method doesn't exist, a load of people would disagree. Dream guides however are debatable. No one has been in a lucid and gone "I want to see my dream guide" and had a person appear with "Dream guide" written across their face.

Dream guide is an idea, a manifestation or a symbol for yourself. Sure, you can ask for a DG and have someone appear, but that could just be your subconscious dredging up some random thing to get what you asked for.

When people say dream guide, we instantly think of a person who is likable and has a mysterious knowledgeable feel to them. We trust that person and "know" that it knows us more than we do. If you ask for that, thats what you get. Whether or not there is actually a semi independent being that we can speak to, is still unclear.

If you ask for a DG, you will get what you expect. That doesn't make it true. You could ask for a library with all your memories in it. One will appear, but that doesn't mean inside your head there is a library that catalogs all your memories like a library does.

So with that, you can try to find a DG, and you will probably find one. Just know that that doesn't prove they are real or a tangible idea. Don't believe what you want to, is what I'm saying.
I'm not against the idea, no way, I want to meet mine. But I hope you, like me, won't go "Ooh dream guide, tell me everything about me", because it is likely just your brain regurgitating stuff you already know. Don't fall in love with an idea that is basically a Dream character and call it magic.

Reason for rant: I have seen too many people hold Dream Guides with "god" status. They are a concept, not a thing.

Oh yeah, you can normally just shout for a dream guide to appear, and they can be anywhere, you just need to know that one will appear.
