Hi, I'm new and I have a few questions.

Hi, I'm 15 years old and I just heard about lucid dreaming today and I find everything involved with dreams very interesting. I searched about lucid dreaming and spent like three hours getting some information about this thing, and there are few things taht I would like to get answered:

When I was younger, I had this nightmare that I was scared more of anything (still gives me chills ) I am inside of a volcano with my parents, It's full of land, except there is one lavapool with a huge wooden face above it. One after another, everyone of my family jumps in and they get certain amount of scores, my dad always goes last band the wooden voice says that he amde the new world record. Then I turn around and see a little metallic creature standing there silently (looks like aron from pokémon) it's like literally dead silent, but suddenly it screams very loud and very high voice and I wake up. Once after that the volcano erupted and I was riding the lava flow and when I hit the air, I thought about a huge bird, it appeared and I grabbed its claw and survived. I continued thinking about stuff and I realised that I could make things apprear, but I didn't fully understand that I was in a dream, would you call this a lucid dream?

And there was one thing when I had nightmares, when I had a nightmare, I realised that I cuold wake up when I closed my eyes really hard and opened them again, I did this with alot of nightmares, it worked like 70% of nightmares, sometimes it took few tries, still I didn't fully understand that I was in a dream. Would you call this some kind of reality check or anything.

Also, when you are in a lucid dream, do you have absolutely full control of everything, I mean that does random thing appear? Like some people that you know for an example.

Wow, this became a lot longer tha nI expected thanks for reading and possibly answering!

      Welcome to the forum!

A lucid dream is, by definition, being aware that you're dreaming. There are different degrees of lucidity, though. Sometimes you're not fully aware that you're dreaming, and so you can't of that fact. That sounds like what you experienced in those dreams. A simple way to increase awareness would be to do a reality check, that way you remove all doubt.

Dream control and lucidity are not synonymous. You can have a non-lucid dream with near complete control or a lucid dream with very little control. In a lucid dream however, dream control is a skill. Some people have great control right from the start. Others need to practice and learn techniques to help them accomplish their dream goals. If you wanted to summon a person then you could. Dream control, in general, is only as difficult as you think it is.

Just like the others said, dream control and lucidity is different.
Lucidity is just merely being awake, you might not be able to control them well at first, it might take some practice.

Try better not just actively control it. (Like I did)
I'm an experienced newbie ...anytime I tried to just control something in a dream it would had fade away and I would wake up.
Try to ask for it...like I did in my last dream. I went to that guy, but didn't just imagined it to disappear ('cause it would always end bad for me). I told him: "Please, leave!" and so he did. It's your subconscious and it shall do whatever you ask for...don't try to control it yourself if you're a novice!
