Question About LD Count on my profile

Hey guys, just got started here last week, and I had a question about etiquette on setting your LD Count in your profile. I have been lucid dreaming for a long time, so I have had scores of lucid dreams (probably several hundred lucid or semi-lucid dreams in the 13+ years I've been lucid dreaming). I don't feel like I need to actually estimate how many I've had (I don't need to be "billy badass" and put a gigantic number or anything), but I would like anyone looking at my profile to get a real sense of my level of experience, so I'd rather not just start counting at the date I joined this site (last thursday). I've had 4 lucid dreams since then, and I've logged 2 to the Dream Journal. Is it proper DV etiquette to only count LDs logged to the DJ on this site, to only count ones since I joined, or may I give myself a starting number of, say 30 or so? I think this is enough to show that I am an experienced lucid dreamer, but not such a high number that I am trying to make it a competition. Thoughts?

you can do as many as you like, however way you want to write it. Maybe put the amount of LDs you have had since joining DV on your profile, and in your signature you can say you have had hundreds before you joined DV there really are no right or wrong ways to do it. I had LDs before i joined here but I didn't count them because i was completely unaware as to how many i had ^^ and also,

Welcome to Dreamviews, ashraen! The count just displays the number of LDs you've had, and it doesn't matter if it's since you've joined the site or since you actually started LDing. Lots of people have bigger numbers - Naiya, an experienced user on DV, has a number over 1,000 as her LD count! I wouldn't worry about trying to look like a know-it-all or anything; it's just a way to show your level of experience.

thanks alot erible and Puffin! I figured I could set it up however I wanted, but I was glad to get some confirmation. It won't take me long to get the hang of how things go around here I've decided to just start my count when I joined DV, and then elaborate on my experience level in my sig (when I can create a sig in 4 more days). Hopefully, I'll even be able to add a WILD count to the sig soon - that's my number one project right now

The DV forum is pretty laid-back as a whole, so there aren't many restrictions in terms of what you can put in your sig/avatar/info for lucid dreaming stuff. You can also add some paragraphs or text to your biography, by going to your profile and then selecting the pencil icon. That might be another place to elaborate on your experiences, if you feel like doing so. And good luck with the WILD! =)
