Angry Little to no lucid dreams

So im a newbie to dreamviews, and am here to ask if it is usual for somewhat of a beginner to have little to no lucid dreams. I have been practicing lucid dreaming for about three months, and out of that have only accomplished a two second lucid. That was about two weeks ago. I look around and i see people talking about how they have had lucid dreams in the first week or even on the night upon starting. It is very discouraging how they have so much success but in my situtation i am getting nothing. When i read things like this i feel very incompetent. Makes me want to flip the damn coffee table over, grab my lamp and throw it through the window, jump through and stab myself with one of the shards.
Maybe joining this site will be the change in my dreams

It just makes me mad to know of how much i have been practicing and all of these noobs get lucid dreams handed to them on a silver platter.

Stimulate your mind, read books and stay off the computer for about an hour before sleep. Helps with my dream recall immensely. Then once you start noticing dream signs you will be lucid in no time. I hope this helps you. I had been trying to lucid for years and then last month I began this technique and look at my LD count. It has been amazing. Keep trying I assure you that you can do it.

A year of practicing DILD still didn't get me any lucids; I did feel pretty jealous of other people and how they were able to achieve their first lucid within the first month, but I still kept trying. And still, once I did succeed, all of my lucid dreams have been quite short and with little dream control. I am getting better, and I know you can too. Good luck!

It is not unusual no, you are learning a new skill, its like learning piano, except your making the piano, teaching yourself to play it, and also providing the music sheet, if you see what im saying? First thing to do would be dont get frustrated about it! its not something you just automatically master, far from it.
Be persistent but dont get yourself down about it, your just making it worse on yourself.
P.S... do a reality check right now!

Don't be mad man. It's true that some are gifted while others are not, but one thing is clear: All of us CAN Lucid Dream. It's really common for beginners to have no lucid dreams at the start. It just requires patience and self confidence. If you think that a certain technique is not working for you, try other techniques. Hope this helps

Couple of questions to help me determine the problem:

      How good is your recall?
Do you keep a Dream Journal?
How often do you write in the DJ?
      What techniques have you tried?
How long did you try each technique?

      Further points
Have you tried All Day Awareness + WBTB + Mantras before bed in order to achieve DILD/MILD, I believe that is the best way!

Thanks guys for the replies and encouragement. It is just that sometimes it gets so frustrating seeing these noobs get lucid so easy.

flipsyde That technique sounds interesting, I'll give it a try. I do usually spend about two hours on the computer before i go to bed.

As for what Arch said, I do keep a dream journal, and update it maybe every other day. A couple of weeks ago when it was summer break I wrote in it every day. Also when it was summer i was able to recall up to 3 to 4 full dreams and a few fragments. But since school started it has slimmed down to about 1 or 2 a night.

I do also practice ADA. But more of the version that Puffin has come up with. The Sporatic awareness techinque. So instead of trying to keep up awareness all day which seems impossible to me, im starting small and raising my awareness as much as 10 times a day at 2 minutes each. All at random when i think about dreaming. Also I have done reality checks for about a month long but felt it didn't carry on to my dreams.

But staying away from the computer does seem interesting. I spend a little too much time on there I have heard that spending a lot of time in front of a bright computer screen before bed hinders sleep.

Again thanks for helping a growing lucid dreamer
