      first lucid dream??

Ok , I had this dream a few days ago while at college and this is the first opportunity I have recieved to post this.
It was Wednesday I think, I woke up at around 9 went to college for an hour or two then came back and went to sleep for a few hours, this is where I had my , what I believe to be lucid dream.

It was really strange, I kept going in and out of deep sleeps and when I would check my phone for the time it was only a few minutes later than what it was before which I found strange. anyway in to the actual dreams themselves, im not sure if all events occured in the same dream or in which order they came in so I will just relay them in any order.

In one part of the dream, I remember being in a bedroom with a group of random people, one young man in particular stuck out. All my attention was focussed on him, almost ignoring the presence of others in the room. I cant remember the context of the conversation I just remember saying to him "this is a dream, its a dream!", to which he responded something along the lines of "sshhhh, I know" almost as if he didnt want the others present in the room to hear me.
I found this strange as I often hover around this forum reading things and I have learned that DC's tend to deny that its a dream?
I then pointed out that his mouth/teeth looked funny to which he responded that I had big ears.
After realising that it was a dream I immediately tried to summon a person, to no avail. That was the end of that particular dream/scene.

Next I remember being in what seemed to be an airport terminal and ironicaly enough I was trying to fly, this was slightly more succesful than my attempts to summon athough it was still pretty lacklustered. I do recall being able to fly, but not very confidently or for any amount of real time.

The final scene of the dream I remember is being in a taxi with a group of people, as I went to get out everything started to spin, my vision went blurry, everything started to go grey and white. Then I woke up and was kind of stuck for a split second and my head was still spinning.

This is what I think to be my first exerience of a lucid dream, it was certainly interesting since I actually havent been trying to enter one.

      Hey Deono, congratulations!

If you knew that you were dreaming while inside a dream, it was a lucid. Being lucid and having dream control are two separate things. You can be lucid and have no control or not be lucid and have a ton of control. As you start to have more lucids, your control should go up too. Next time you want to summon someone, you can try reaching in your pocket for a cell phone and calling the person you want to summon. Tell them to come where you are.

It is rather common for this to happen when someone is lucid, but everyone's dream are different. There are not any rules in your dream that say that a DC HAS to deny it's a dream. It is your dream, and that's what makes it special.

That's cool, at least you remembering flying! Check out my flying tutorial (link in my signature), i'm sure it will help you!

Anyway after reading your post, it definitely sounds like you were lucid! Congratulations! Next time you become lucid, I recommend you stabilize the dream. If you don't know how to do that, read this stabilization tutorial. Good luck!

      Hello Deano,
If you realised you were dreaming, then it was a lucid dream, so well done there!
The general heightened awareness and the questioning attitude makes me confident that it was a lucid, that is a distinct difference between my lucids and my non lucids, I take notice of the little things in my lucids.
      For example:
I then pointed out that his mouth/teeth looked funny to which he responded that I had big ears.
If you weren't lucid you probably would just accept the character for what he looked like.

The final scene of the dream I remember is being in a taxi with a group of people, as I went to get out everything started to spin, my vision went blurry, everything started to go grey and white. Then I woke up and was kind of stuck for a split second and my head was still spinning.
This sounds to me like the dream started to become unstable, it can be hard to tell when the dream is unstable at first due to levels of conciousness, but as first lucids go, this is a great one.
When I'm in a lucid I try to be aware off how stable the dream is at all times, because it can catch you out without you realising - you have to actively think about it!

If you have any questions, just ask.
      Good Job!

Edit: Dammit mancon, had the page open wayy before you!
