Very new to lucid dreaming, I have a few questions

So last summer, my friend told me about lucid dreaming, and we'd always talk about dreams. But whenever it came to talk about mine, I've always lacked details, my dreams always seem so fuzzy and hazy.... I can never remember too much, just a basic main idea. Also, they never seem "real," they are more thought like than waking life. Is this because I need to improve my recall? I'd appreciate any insight.

      Welcome to Dreamviews, snakeops!

Yeah, sounds like you need to improve your recall. Dreamviews has an official Dream Recall Tutorial you should read. I find the thing the helps me the most is right when I wake up, I stay still and think of nothing but my dreams. Any little detail or though I write down. If you don't have enough time to write down all the details just jot down the main points of the dream and add details later.

After your recall improves you can start to focus on actually have a lucid dream. Check out this thread for a list of all the main techniques, and a little bit about them. You want to pick a technique that appeals to you the most. Once you have chosen a technique, you can find a bunch of tutorials on that technique around the forum. You can also combine different techniques to make it your own. I also recommend you start to do reality checks.

Anyway, right now you should just focus on your recall. Good luck, and I hope you start having lucids soon! If you have any questions, feel free to message me.

First of all, if you intend to pratice lucid dreaming, you have to understand it's a constant process. It may take a month or two (sometimes more sometimes less) to get regular lds and get experienced at control. It's very common that your first lucids are fuzzy and blurry, eventually you will learn to stabilize the dream and prevent early awakenings, at the same time you prologue the dream's duration and vividness.

Yes, dream recall is a huge requirement for lucid dreaming. First of all, because you can't remember your lucids if you don't remember your dreams, and second, because you have less chances of realizing you're in a dream if you aren't familial with the usual content of your dreams. With continuous dream recall and practice, you're dreams will get more and more vivid, and dream control will become easier. Just remember: if you practice steady and regularly, you're lucid dream abilities will only improve and improve. Can you imagine yourself in a few months creating cities and doing complex tasks?

      Good luck!

Mancon, thank you so much for your insight and warm greeting! I've looked up several ways to remember my dreams, but I've always felt like asking myself. I'll definitely start writing down my dreams, following that guide, and using the method you've provided for me. ^_^ I guess I jumped the gun too fast trying to lucid dream, I'll work on my recall first. c: Thank you so much!

zoth00, thank you for the help! I didn't know it would take so long, but I'll be sure to patient and work towards making my dream recall tip-top and then practicing my lucid dreaming techniques. I will most definitely practice steadily and regularly. I can definitely imagine that! Thank you as well! >w<
