      Hey and I have a few ?'s.

So, hey. I'm CookieHJ, I joined ealier this week and last night I wanted to try FILD, but kinda failed..started to move my fingers and then thought "I'm already too awake, this will never work.." but at some point I stopped moving my fingers and the next thing I know I open my eyes and realize I failed. Oh well, I'll just try again. But I have a question about the dream I had last night. I was going around some house going through some drawers and stuff (don't ask why, it's a long and complicated dream, but I sure wasn't a burglar ) and randomly did a reality check, by holding my nose..and breathing. At the same time I told myself "this can't be real, I can feel my hand under the pillow, I didn't do a RC!". And of course I woke up right after that. The question is, does that count as a LD? And if it doesn't then I was close, right? I don't think I had much control..but I also didn't have time to find out if I had control. And the mistake I made was focusing on mu real body too much. D'oh.

Sounds like you were on the right tracks and briefly became lucid (if only to a small degree). Just keep up what you're doing now and you'll be getting there in no time.

      Hello CookieHJ!

The question is, does that count as a LD?
If you realised it was a dream then yeah it's a lucid, it doesn't matter if you had much control, that comes with practice and experience.
And the mistake I made was focusing on mu real body too much. D'oh.
Yeah this is what likely woke you up, so try not thinking about it, usually I just attempt to stabilise and forget about anything in real life. I found although the nose plug helps me realise it is a dream, it makes me very unstable, I corrected this by learning to do other ones by default.
But well done, if you have any other questions, just ask.

Don't let any future failures deter you from your goals then. In all probability lucid occurrences might slow down for you now, but keep working at it. In time you will become adept if you put in the effort.

EDIT: I think your lucid count needs updating, too.

Woo! Well done on having your first LD! And so fast too! Get into the habit of doing multiple RC's - so that this doesn't happen to you I personally always use counting my fingers and the nose-pinch as a bare minimum. If you keep up the effort, your lucid count will now start to rise, you're well on your way!

I can tell you now: Flying is something else entirely. Just believe that you can do it and I can assure you you'll have an epic lucid.

Oh yay. So we went for a car ride with mom, an hour long ride or so. On our way back I decided, that I feel like sleeping and put in my earphones and pulled my hat over my eyes, so I wouldn't keep myself awake by staring at the passing trees. I sat there, not moving at all, when I thought "I could try WILD now!". I kept on doing nothing. Then I started to feel numbness, I was holding my phone in my hand and it slowly slipped away. The numbness was such a weird feeling..but not as bad as I always imagined. I was holding the door's handle with my other hand and I felt my grip on the handle become weaker. I felt my heart start beating faster, I was seeing light and my eyes started moving, it felt like I'm going to open my eyes because of that. So there was light and eyes moving..a lot. At that time I was wondering "How do I now get somewhere without moving my real body?" I tried to imagine the place I lived, when I was little (I still go there, so the image of the place gets updated ;D) but nothing happenes, the light just chills there. Fools Garden's Lemon Tree was playing (that song was playing during all this ) and I tried to imagine the 'blue blue sky' but nothing happened. Music kinda helps and then again doesn't. I think it helps me imagine some place, if the song describes something but when the song ends then it's like reality slaps you in the face by some screamy song coming up next. Ok, that didn't happen, I'm just sayin'. I gave up when I couldn't see a 'blue blue sky' and moved my toes to wake up. Even if I did enter a dream, I couldn't be there for long, we were 5 minutes away from home. Whew, hopefully someone will read this long story of my life ;D.

Hmm, yes, another question. Would it be bad or good to listen to some relaxing nature sounds or such while trying to WILD? And if I do, would I hear it in my dream too?
      (And sorry for 2xpost )
