New to the forum, not to Lucid Dreaming

      Hello dreamers!

So I've been lucid dreaming since I was a kid, on and off. I'm very fascinated by dreams and their implications. I like to keep my philosophy on what they are and what they mean open. Meaning they could be just brain activity, or they could be some other dimension that we visit, or maybe some combination of both. I'm interested in stories of shamanic type dreaming as well, and exploring what dreams can teach us. Mostly though, I have a tendency to have epic dreams occasionally, and I want to increase my ability to step into these dreams.

I'm an artist, and general creative person. I would like to somehow let my dreams inform more of what I create. Also I'm really fascinated by other people's experiences in dreams and I'd like to see what we have in common and where we differ.

For years I dreamed about flying, only I couldn't fly very well. These dreams were somewhat lucid. Lucidity in my dreams basically went like this: Oh, I'm dreaming. Which means I can fly! I'm gonna fly! Hrm, it's not working very well. What are all these power lines criss crossing above me? Wow there are a lot of them and they go in all directions... and I keep getting tangled in them. Damn.

However the last lucid dream I had, I flew, got above the power lines, and saw a stunning landscape before me with a sunset. I was in awe of the landscape (This emotional response to beautiful natural landscapes happens to me a lot in dreams.)

Anyway I want to try other things when I'm lucid too. One fun thing is to have a conversation with someone about the fact that you are dreaming, and how they feel about that. I want to try the mirror exercises I've read about. Also I'm wondering if I can find a way to treat my insomnia with pre sleep dreaming meditations or something.

Wow that was a REALLY long introduction. So uh, HI! Nice to meet you all!

You can take a look at ShockWave's Meditation Lessons and some sleeping tips. Good luck!

Of course my first dream journal entries are lame. But I'm thinking about doing a dream journal with dreams that I remember from the past. I still remember dreams from when I was 7. It would be interesting to put them all up and see if I can figure out some correlations or something.

The dream I had of the levels of hell is the most vivid still, so maybe I'll write about that one at some point. (I'm basically agnostic/zen/pagan/universalist so if I believe in hell it's not something that happens to you when you die, and it's not something you get stuck in for eternity. Eternity seems a bit harsh for any crime to me.)

Thanks Zebrah! Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I'm gonna probably try to get as comfortable as I can with the forum itself. I'm not usually much of a forum reader. I use them as a tool more than a social discussion platform but I'm enjoying reading the experiences, dreams, assignments etc. that people have written.

There is a button in the upper right corner that says "Chat". Click it and log in with your normal username and password. After that your in chat! Are you having some kind of problem getting into it?

Anyway, you should now chat is A LOT more laid back than the forums. We talk about everything in chat, and make all kinds of jokes You might like it, you might not. If you have any questions make sure to ask on the forums or send me a private message!
