      New(ish) to lucid dreaming!

      Hallo all!
I'm new(ish) to the controlling my dreams. I never, before I found this site, truly tried to control my dreams. The times I've been lucid in the past it just happened. The first I ever had was flying and the most recent was wizard dueling Lucius Malfoy (which was amazing). I now want to truly be able to decide when I lucid, and I figure this site can help.

Any hints and tips to attaining lucidity will be greatly appreciated!

      Cheers,
      DreamBounty

Hey, That dueling dream sounds awesome

A couple of the most important things you can do are to keep a dream journal, and practice reality checks. With the reality checks, you want to do them frequently, but avoid making it an unconscious habit, because then you'll just do it automatically in your dream and it won't help your lucidity.

There are a lot of good tutorials in the wiki section of the site. That would be a good place to start. Good luck

Hello there! We have great resources on this site for techniques that might work for you as well. For me personally I love to try and attempt WILDS "Wake Induced Lucid Dreaming" It is a state where you lay there with your eyes closed. The goal is to keep your mind awake and let your body fall asleep. At first it will feel weird and maybe even a little bit scary but just remember its all in your head.

How long do I need to stay that way to get into a dream? To be honest it varies among people I believe; but usually the ballpark is 10 minutes . During this whole thing however a few things must take place before you can succeed at a WILD.

What will I experience during the transition? At first noting, and at this time you want to keep relaxed and try to re frame from moving your body too much if at all. Your body will throw out a few tests to see if you're "sleeping" Like the urge to roll over, or an itch or any sensory feeling. You have to learn to ignore these things as this is the first trail. The second is that you will feel your body falling asleep and you will quickly figure out it is getting difficult to move. it is "critical" to let this happen as your body is getting ready for the dream states so you don't act out your dreams. It is a safety mechanism much like when you get on a roller coaster they strap you into the seat.

Then there will be moments where your mind quickly tries to get the one up on you and tries to throws some things to make you loose your "awake". Be aware as it could happen, and it is ok if you don't succeed at first. You will start getting images that will be slow at first, just watch the images and "imbrace them" and let them do all the work for you. then BAM your in a dream state completely lucid Congratulations.
Lucid dreaming takes three things: Patience, practice, and perseverance.

      Hi there my friend,
Welcome to DV! There are a lot of articles here in the forums that contain loads of information about lucid dreaming. Have you already chosen the right method for you? There's the MILD, the DILD and the WILD. With the WILD as the trickiest. Try reading Mancon's Find out the what technique is right for you article to know more info. It's all about a matter of confidence and patience. Hope this helps and good luck in your journey

      Talking

First off I would like to thank all of you for your welcomings and techniques.

On the topic of techniques the one that I try to do are reality checks (started about two or so months ago). The one that I started today was a dream journal.

      *And the exciting bit*
Last night I do believe I was able to semi-attain lucidity. Never in my dream did I recognise it was a dream, but I knew I could do whatever I wanted. I began to jump, and when I would jump I would go exceedingly high in to the sky. Soon I was in complete control, and could jump whenever I wanted. There was more detail than that in my journal, but I don't want to bore you.

I may try to WILD tonight. I tried last night, but I fell asleep.

      Cheers!

That sounds like so much fun I love flying dreams. There's also an option to start a dream journal on this site, if you want to share some of your dreams with everyone else.

With the WILD, you want to catch yourself during or just before a REM cycle, so it's best to sleep for a few hours first, wake up for a short while, and then try it... or you could try it in an afternoon nap.
