There's a big difference between your body becoming numb and the feeling of sleep paralysis. When you don't move for a long period of time you do end up numbing almost completely - but unless you are tired enough, and your mind is quiet enough, you will not be able to get your body to go to sleep. That's what needs to happen to start sleep paralysis - and you can feel anything from movement, falling, spinning, vibrating, or seeing and hearing things that aren't there.
