      A few miscellaneous Questions.

1.My first question is about that sleep paralysis thing? i think i tried doing last night.. is it where you sleep on your back and your body feels weird and you start lucid dreaming? i spent about an hour trying to sleep face up last night.

2.My second question is about realizing your in a dream and then it becomes lucid. i've only had one lucid dream and i had it because i realized i was in another state that i wasn't supposed to be. well i had a dream last night that i was with my sister and my mom and they both live in florida. i also told myself that they live in florida and that i live in north carolina. i still didn't realize i was dreaming. i find this very weird..

3.does smoking marijuanna before sleep or going to sleep high induce dreaming? or does it help you lucid dream?

4.I also want to ask if dreaming.. i don't know how to put this but let me explain. when i was young i used to have very scary dreams. i used to have one dream in particular that would always wake me up and i would be really scared. it would have to do with my phobia of hieghts. what would happen in the dream would be that i would be falling from a building for about 5 seconds and i would wake up before i even hit the ground. this has happened to me so many times i dont remember how many times it's happened. i can also remember how the building and area looked. then i got over my fright of hieghts and i got really scared that someone would break in the house. then i started having dreams about someone robbing the house. the same as the hieghts. each time they ended i would wake up and i would feel really weird. maybe dreams are so your ready for a situation if it ever happens..

Your feedback is greatly appreciated. thank you!

Hey there, Earl. Welcome to Dream VIews!

      1) Yes and no. Sleep Paralysis is a condition we all go through, when our bodies 'turn off' the mind-body connection, while we're dreaming, so that we don't physically act out our dreams. If you stay conscious for long enough, you can usually 'feel' your body entering this stage, before you actually are 'asleep.' (You will be completely numb. Sometimes you will feel tingles or waves of sensation.) You don't always start lucid dreaming, while in sleep paralysis, but it can lead into a lucid dream, if you're able to keep your mind active, while you fall asleep. There are also more frightening experiences with sleep paralysis, when we wake up in the middle of it. People will become slightly awake, but their bodies will still be paralyzed, so they freak out. When they freak out - and being just on the edge of sleep/dreaming - they will often start hallucinating things which are usually unpleasant, because they are born out of fear.

      2) It's not weird. The usual process of the sleeping mind is to turn of (or severely inhibit) your logic center. So even though you might find something to be strange in a dream, you aren't going to find everything weird. I can have a dream about being in my room, and notice that my dresser is on the wrong side, and become lucid. On the other hand, I can dream that we're being invaded by aliens and people are walking around upside down on the ceiling, while Superman fights a Transformer in the background, to the sounds of club music playing in the background, and still not notice something is weird. It's just the nature of the beast, I'm afraid. The only thing we can do is work on our awareness so that our minds are more actively engaged, and we can at least increase the frequency in which we're able to realize we're dreaming.

      3) It usually makes it damn near impossible for me to remember my dreams, if I go to sleep stoned.

      4) Yes. There are many scientific circles that believes this is at least one of the main purposes of dreaming. Of course, no one is completely sure of all of the benefits or purposes of dreaming, but that's definitely held to be one of them.

Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask around. And enjoy your stay!

Sleep Paralysis is the state where you transition from waking life into dream life. While in this state, you'll experience Hypnagogic Hallucinations. This hallucinations will take the form of almost any elements that might engage your senses. It might come in the form of scary visuals, buzzy sounds and the like. Sleeping face up isn't really important if you want to achieve SP. What matters is you should be in the sleeping position where you are most comfortable with or the sleeping position you often fall asleep with.
It's natural to be unaware that you're dreaming even if the dream scenario is really, undeniably weird. During sleep, the way you reason or use logic, is hindered. So I suggest you make it a habit to ask yourself, at random parts of the day, wether you're dreaming or not.
3.does smoking marijuanna before sleep or going to sleep high induce dreaming? or does it help you lucid dream?
I don't really know anything about the effects of weed to lucid dreaming.

Dreams have a lot of purposes. It's often used for meditation, entertainment, discovering more of yourself, spiritual enlightenment(?), real-life emulation and the like. So feel free to decode the mystery of dreaming.

      Hope this helps

      About sleep paralysis:

Do you actually have to be completely unable to move, even if willing? When I lay down on my back, I get numb and tingly after a while. But I'm convincing myself not to move.
Eventually I do move, breaking the numb state. There's no anxiety, hallucinations. So I guess this is something else?

The important thing here is to be in the position where your body will quickly fall asleep with. So it's just fine to slowly shift or change your sleeping position. If you want to move, then move. If you do have some clarifications, feel free to ask.
