Nope, false awakening is only when you actually awake in a dream, and you know, get out of bed and such.. What happened to you is you just lost your lucidity, because of all the excitement !
The best way to control it is to stabilize the dream, by looking at your hands, looking at the textures, and using all your senses , (touching stuff, rubbing your hands, hearing the sound around you, etc.)
-Once you are lucid, be sure to remind yourself, say out loud "This is a dream." every now and then, and your lucidity will last for much much longer !
