      Weird Waking Dreams?

Okay so when I was younger, I used to have these dreams, typically when I had a fever, where I would wake up, and everything would scare me. Things were disproportionate and constantly changing size. My hands would be the size of balloons or they would feel like baby hands. When I was asleep, I would visualize myself falling through tunnels and there was always a LOT of color and activity it these dreams which was extremely overwhelming. I would be so scared I would run around and scream and cry and my parents typically had to hold me tightly just so I wouldn't hurt myself or anything. The main thing was the limbs and hands changing sizes. For these reasons I called them my "hallucinations" for most of my life although I know they weren't. Sometimes it even happened when I was awake and just under high stress. I am now in my teens and I haven't experienced it lately but I have never known what it was. Can anyone tell me what it is and where I can learn more?

Well the distortions in real life could be two things, in my opinion. You have woken from a dream and you are experiencing Hallucinations, if you attempt to WILD sometimes you will feel yourself spinning or floating and if you open your eyes it probably will look all rippley. (again, in my expierence) When I was a kid I used to have similar experiences so don't worry about it. Children tend to be more active dreamers.
Not sure where you can learn more, just talk to other dreamers here.

I used to have some pretty weird feelings when young, but I was not able to ask anybody about them, because I couldn't find words to describe them. But what you say about your arms being huge, well, I remember my tongue used to feel huge and weird and now that you mention it, rest of my body felt kinda like what you say. Never had any visuals, though. But this always happend while awake in a bed, not when asleep. Sorry, I couldn't be of more help.

I don't quite understand what you mean. Do you mean your hands looked really big in the dreams, or once you woke up? The only similiar experiences I've had are with anxiety attacks. During early elementary school years, I'd wake up in the middle of the night and start freaking out. Similarly to what you said, everything would 'feel big', however, I never knew what it was. The only was I could get rid of it was to wait it out or to force myself to sleep, ignoring all these odd sensations.
However, it wasn't my own limbs that felt scary, it was my environment. I'd think that something would run through the wall and attack me or the like. It wasn't until a few years ago that I was diagnosed with anxiety did I truly understand what was going on.
Anyway, that's the only similar experiences I've had.

Kids are less able to distinguish between waking life and dreams.
They also "dream" or hallucinate during waking life, it would be weird if one didn't.
After waking up, even some adults get these mild hallucinations, so it's no wonder a kid would get them more intensely.

I suppose the only thing you could call it, if you want to put a label on it, I guess, is "dreams leaking in to waking life".
