      First Lucid Dream!

I was dreaming about the past and as I was talking a gym like building I saw myself as a child with my family and for some reason this made me extremely happy but i cried in my dream but then I realized something and i said to myself "but how can I be there so young if I am right here?" then it hit me I'm dreaming! So to test this I tried to fly then the excitement woke me up haha.

The funny thing is I didn't even try to lucid dream I just went to sleep normally. I have a theory though, the past week I've been eating kind of healthy and in my meals there was broccoli which contains vitamin B and I've been taking vitamin supplements so I thinking it might have something to do with it. What do you think?

If you start reading or thinking about lucid dreams for the first time it is not unusual to have one without any technique. I had my first 3 days after starting to read the LeBerge book. Intent or even knowledge that it is possible are factors that help.

The vitamin supplements are there to enhance your dream experiences, not to increase your chances of becoming lucid. It's like Rothgar said, you can get lucid spontaneously just by knowing about it being possible or totally random. Try to focus on lucid dreaming as much as possible and see how much you can get out of it I'm sure you'll be able to get lucid again willingly soon enough. I also suggest you don't take too much B-vitamins in your supplements, atleast not more than a few mg. If you want to use it as a supplement to sometimes enhance your dreams, then taking it more than every 3 days isn't recommended. I did and it lost its effects it had on me quickly. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Thanks for the help guys. A little update...my dream last night was kinda like a lucid dream in a dream if that makes sense, I think I'm starting to get closer!

Nice one dude! Although the excitement mistake is a pain in the ass for some people. I have had 2 lucid dreams in the past few months but I was completely prepared for when they happen and although I'm amazed at everything, I just completely relax my mind and remind myself if I get to excited everything goes dark and fades, so I just act all chilled lol

I was trying to take a nap cause I remembered the whole nap technique..the proper name escapes me sorry but I was counting 1..I am dreaming ect.. till about 60 then my body started twitching every now and then and when I opened my eyes I kinda saw in a blur what looked like a spider sort of thing if that makes sense.

Congrats, I am sure you will have many more to come . Like everyone else said, Lucids can just happen randomly without you even trying too

Edit: It is called a WILD you were experiencing HI (hypnotic imagery) which occurs during sleep paralysis. You are making progress!
