Saying hello and wondering where i should start.

      Hello all

Wow i'm glad a site exists. I've had freaky stuff with dreams every since i could remember. Nightmares, Deja vu, lucid dreams, dream control(limited). Ive always been fascinated by my dreams and my nightmares is what really got me started looking up information about it. I had a number of sleep paralysis episodes that led me to look up information on dreams, interpretations and so on and didn't really know what to call it at first. one thing led to another and years later I learn some terms and stumble across this site. yay

Now I'm not sure where to start. I've had lucid dreams before and they are kind of random, and few. I wake up in the middle of the night, sometimes i put on my alarm clock so i can wake up and remember my dreams a bit better than i have lately i remember maybe 3-5 dreams a week. I don't really know where to go from here.
I don't know what the next step is. Any advice or input would be helpful.

Most likely, start a dream journal. Then you will want to choose a method to try.

      DILD
      WILD

WILD is going from waking to dreaming and keeping your consciousness. It is harder for beginners most of the time.

DILD is when you realise it's a dream once it has started. It is more popular and used more. Easier for beginners but not as high a reward.

The tutorials section of this site have lots of invaluable information. Feel free to come on IRC.

      Welcome, CardCaptor
I disagree with enak101 on the DILD bit. I find each lucid dream rewarding in it's own way. If you're not sure where to start, check out this tutorial written by Sushi: http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/
It goes through just about everything a beginner to inducing lucid dreams needs to know. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to post on the boards or to message me personally!

Good luck on your lucid adventures

As enak said, you will want to start a dream journal. The dream journal can help with recall if you do not remember alot of dreams but also reminds you that your dreams are important to you. The method that works best for me as I am still fairly new to Lucid dreaming is the MILD method. Basically you raise your awareness and perform frequent reality checks. If you want to know more information on inducing lucids than refer to the forum resources, wiki, articles. I found alot of different detailed tutorials there, check it out.

MILD actually focuses on using mantras to get lucid rather than awareness. It can help, but mantras are the key thing; you're thinking of DILD, heh.

Oh sorry. I forgot to metion the mantras, must of got em mixed up, but raising your daily awareness helps alot though either way.

Yeah that wasn't the best statment, it depends on the person which is more vivid. I just meant that if WILD's do work for you it's more of a guaranteed thing every time you do it. But yeah, every way has good points.

Thnx guys. Yeah ive started a dream journal, but i dont like to write in it when i only remember fragments. i always get distracted by other thoughts when i first wake up so its hard at times. other times it just flows out of me when im writing them down in the moment and aftraid of it slipping away. its tough sometimes. I've started raising my awareness and im going to see how that goes to try and do DILD. thats how i have had LDs in the past but i am very interested in the WILD since i have had Sleep paralysis experience and try to use that to my advantage. is it possible to eventually try and do both throughout the night? start just by going to sleep normal, have a DILD and then have an alarm set for the middle of the night so that its easier to do a WILD or is that something different? i dunno. ill figure it out as i go along and ask questions as i get to those bridges i guess.
