I never thought about Lucid dreaming much, until I began having what feels like nightmares daily. Everything is hyper realistic and I can't tell reality from the dream until what i don't believe what i see in my dream. |

Skeptical of lucid dreaming? There's scientific evidence backing it, though. Anyway, about the nightmares, I heard that some people confront them in lucid dreams. They ask whatever it is that's bothering them what they want, then they go away. But I can't speak for this since I don't have nightmares often. You could also try autosuggestion, repeating things before bed like "I am having nice, happy dreams." or maybe just try not to think about it much when you go to bed. |

Hey, Welcome to DreamViews. Be sure to check out the wiki and it's helpful tutorials, in addition to the Beginner's Guide to Lucid Dreaming. I hope you receive more helpful input in that thread of yours regarding nightmares. I think mantras would definitely help. I think you could use these nightmares to your advantage in order to lucid dream; dream signs. Best of luck to you. Visit the chat room some time, eh. |

I'm glad you're skeptic because you'll have the most enlightening experience when it occurs - a distinct change in beliefs through evidence is always refreshing. |

Many lucid dreaming books suggest solution to end nightmares. When in lucid dream, instead of running away or attacking the 'scary stuff', you express love and understanding towards it. It's based on assumption, that scary stuff we encounter is just part of us. A part, that has been rejected by the dreamer. Maybe a bad trait we don't want to acknowledge, or a problem we don't want to deal with. By sending it love we accept it as part of us and in that moment, the scary transforms into something not threatening and 'melts' into the dreamers character, thus resolving the nightmare. |
