      Struggling Lurker

Hi I heard about lucid dreaming several years ago, but always considered it to be a myth until my girlfriend said she had them all the time as a child and still occasionally now. About 5 weeks ago I started to try it.
started off from the worst place possible, of remembering a broken dream once every 6 months of so. At first went quite well and after a few days had a dream journal of usually a dream a night and sometimes having a decent plot and length.
over the past 2 weeks however its all gone belly up. Lack of remembering anything for days on end and not a single hint of awareness in those I do remember.
I know it's a really bad idea to compare my own progress against others, but who can really help themselves. It is de motivating to read others accounts of them having a few brief seconds of lucidity or those who have one a week of so after a few weeks trying. I just feel I'm heading backwards from a promising start and just a few seconds of success would boost my morale.

Have you tried any techniques like mild yet?? I had his aswell but I soon realised that I always wake up after lucids so they are easy to remember.

Try different techniques and find the one that suits you the best. You will have ups and downs while practicing this but stay positive!

Hey cheer up, this is called a dry spell and even the most seasoned dreamer goes through them.

Just keep on with your normal dreaming practices and you'll break through in no time. I would really suggest doing a mantra right before bed (that's part of the mild technique mentioned before)
Check out this awesome guide for MILD

And stay positive, you'll break the dry spell soon enough. (trust me you will, I've recently just broken out of my own dry spell)

      Good luck!

Thanks, yes I did try mild when I thought the recall was going well. The main dream signs I could spot seemed to be immersion in water, and viewing from a floating camera type perspective, like I'm just observing a scene unfold. Not sure what to do with those as its not something that comes up in waking life to remember to reality check.

I don't believe dreamsigns are extremely usefull becuase of the lack of recurring things in my dreams. Its often described to base which RC's you do off your dreams but I think it should be the other way around. For instance everytime you see a door or a lightsource do an RC. That way in a dream both are more likely to cappear because you thought of them so much and you will automatically do a RC.

Well it seems to have gone better last night, remembered 2 fairly decent ones.

so of I understand you correctly you rc on things in real life and they then show in your dreams. Like when you watch a film and themes and characters bleed through.

Thanks for that tutorial link, it seems to be the best one I have read yet, I'll give it a go.

Well its up to you what way you do it, but for me it works really well as I explained it. It makes sense as well seeing as everything in a dream is based on your experiences in real life.

think I made some progress. Had a couple of remembered dreams over the last few days. Last night I almost had it.
in dream I stopped walking in the middle of the street, realised one of the shops was in the wrong place and asked myself, this must be a dream. Woke up the second I thought it, no time for reality checks.
