      Newbie Lucid Dream Journal

Splice here saying hello and welcome to all. I'm joyed to have found this forum, and I look forward to engaging and learning all I can to enhance my night time excursions into the land of the unconscious. Being unaware in a dream state is like perpetual existence in oblivion. Ignorance is definitely not bliss while dreaming. So without further ramblings, here are my dream experiences so far.

      3 lucid dreams
      1 OBE/Lucid Dream/Astral travel/Hypnagogic Awakening

The first lucid dream was many moons ago.
The second and third were in this past year.
And the OBE was this past week.

The first LD I had I used the technique of: after awaking from a dream in the early morning, I said to my self in my mind over and over: "I want to get back in the dream." While visualizing the recent dream the whole time. I found myself shortly afterwards lucid and dreaming.

The second and third LDs were spontaneous and just happened. I didn't recognize anything out of the ordinary to alert me that I was dreaming (at least not consciously).

The OBE was somehow induced while I was in SP during hypnagogic state, not long after awakening from a dream. I kept telling myself: "I don't want to be paralysed." over and over. And while I was floating and enveloped in an invisible mist of fear, I told myself to not be afraid, and I surrendered my anxieties. Then I told myself that I wanted to fly, and I guess you could say I left my body (up for debate). Next I past through the ceiling like a ghost. I went flying from there. During the whole experience I was totally lucid. I haven't perfected, or even come close to mastering any technique, but thanks for asking.

We typically call this DEILD, Dream Exit Initiated Lucid Dream. Upon waking from a dream you are able to stay in the REM state and slip back into the same dream or create a new dream. The DEILD Tutorial can be found in the Dreamviews WIKI.

The second and third LDs were spontaneous and just happened. I didn't recognize anything out of the ordinary to alert me that I was dreaming (at least not consciously).
We refer to this as DILD, or Dream Induced Lucid Dream.

OBEs are discussed in our Beyond Dreaming section of the forum. You might post your experience there and get some good feedback from others who have experienced similar occurrences.

I hope you decide to share more and spend some quality time on the forum. I think you will find this is a great place to explore the world of dreams and more!

If you have any questions please feel free to send me a private message by clicking on my profile picture.

Welcome to the forum! Happy dreaming!

Hey splice, welcome to DV, and congrats on the recent OBE/LD! If you haven't yet read this Beginner's Guild to LDing, then this gives you a lot of information! We also have a handful of classes in the DV Academy section, focusing on different techniques and experience levels. In each course, 1-3 instructors answer your questions, offer advice and give encouragement.

So how long have you been trying to have lucid dreams? Did you start this year, before you had your second and third LDs? Have you been keeping a dream journal?

My first attempt at lucid dreaming was a success. I had never read, nor heard of the phenomena at the time. Problem was, that I had 1 or 2 false awakenings afterwards, I don't remember exactly. The LD turned into a nightmare, and everytime I false awoke, I was pursued by something malevolent. To make a long story short, it freaked me out, and I decided to never attempt to LD ever again. Now many years later with 2 spontaneous LDs and an OBE happening, I realize that I don't need to fear. And yes, I just started a dream journal, and I've been practicing the mantra Roam Graom for recall, and it works.

=/ Sucks that your first LD was so unpleasant. But it was good that your spontaneous LDs and OBE showed you that there was nothing to fear! I haven't heard of Roam Graom before, but if it works, keep using it. I hope you have your next LD soon.

sivason and melanieb, thankyou for the replies. I'll update when I have another LD. (if I do). But I'm sure I will. This is a great site indeed, and hopefully the LD literature will unconsciously induce a lucid.

Roam Graom is a mantra that the tibetan dream yogis use. It's supposed to be a geometrical and vibrational code which gains access to the dream memories in reverse. In the morning after awakening, I repeat the mantra accentuating the o's like Rome Grome (roooooome groooome) over and over while periodically remembering, and reflecting on the dreams I just had. Then I start to rember the dream backwords. If there were 10 parts to my dream, I may only remember parts 9 and 10 in the morning. But when the mantra is intoned I can start to access parts 8, 7, 6, ect. Try it out some time and see what gives. Good luck in your LD's.

      2 hypnagogic hallucinations last night:

In the first one I noticed a painting on my wall with the art almost alive. (there is no art on my walls) This made me realize I was dreaming. (dream sign) Strange that there was hardly any fear, and I didn't feel any other presence in my apartment.

In the second almost no fear either, and no other presence in the room. I quickly tried to get out of my sleep paralysis dream body so I could go flying again. I could see my legs up to my waist inclined in the air, and they were transparent like a ghosts. This made me force so much energy to astral travel that I woke up. Maybe next time. Damn that was close.

      Lucid Dreaming books I own:

I recently finished reading Lucid Dreaming (The power of Being Aware in Your Dreams) by Stephen LaBerge.
I just purchased, but not read yet Lucid Dreaming (A concise Guide to Awakening in Your Dreams and in Your Life), by Stephen LaBerge.
It comes with an audio cd.
I also just picked up, but not read yet a copy of The Sun and the Shadow (My Experiment With Lucid Dreaming). By Kenneth Kelzer.
