      Hallu everyone!

First of all, my name (in real life) is George.

So while I was searching on Google about a completely irrelevant matter (demonology), I've got redirected at a wikipedia page about Nightmare. I've read some stuff about it and then I've found an interesting link about Lucid Dreams (I didn't know what a Lucid Dream was). So I've started a search on Google to find more information about my matter although I find everything pretty cool about it, I still have some doubts about Lucid Dreaming. Of course I do have some questions:

      1) Is it easy to get lucid dreams? Is it scary when the dream becomes a nightmare?

      2) Are there any chances of dying by fear? If not then I don't bloody care how scary my dream will be.

      3) When you are lucid dreaming, do you actually have the control of yourself, like you were in real life? I mean do you watch everything in a first person view?

      4) I have heard of the sleeping paralysis issue. Well I have to say that this is kinda dump, I mean even if you are not lucid dreaming, when you are sleeping your mind shuts your body off so you will not hurt. Am I right?

      5) If you become a lucid dreamer, will you suffer from hallucinations?

Another last thing about myself. I am 17 years old, I have no sleeping problems at all. Though, I have chosen not to remember my dreams/nightmares. Sometimes I have bad dreams and experiences, I can hardly remember any good dream, but I can imagine of one. For instance, I would like when lucid dreaming, shapeshifting myself to Dante from Devil May Cry, being at hell and beating the crap out of demons with a blow of my sword. Another scenario that I would like to have a lucid dream with would be a star wars one, I would like to be Starkiller, using both Sith/Jedi forces to do my own shit.

Although I am being afraid from lots of things, imaginary things, like demons, that girl from exorcist etc etc. So I wouldn't be afraid of any normal person like terrorists and stuff.

Lastly, if I manage to get lucid dreams, will I be able to manipulate everything around as I like? Will I also be able to communicate with my subconscious mind?

Since I am new here, I will make some further search on the forums so I wont be a burden to you. But it would be much appreciated by me if you would answer to my questions.

P.S.: As I mentioned above I have no problem at sleeping, I don't take any pills, I don't suffer from any diseases. So I wont take any vitamins and stuff like that in order to enhance lucid dreaming.

P.S.2: I am really afraid of mirrors, especially at nights. I don't know why, but I feel that something will happen while staring at the mirror.

Hey George, welcome to Dream Views!

Ehh, I'll try to answer your questions as best as I can:

      1. Having lucid dreams is just like any other skill you need to practice to get good at. Some are naturally gifted, while others may require greater effort. So yes and no, it may or may not be easy, depending on the person. And yes, the nightmares can be scary. But then again, they're not real, so no need to worry. Plus, once you learn to control your dream, you can do basically anything with it and turn nightmares into pleasant dreams.

      2. Unless you have some medical issues that may get affected when you sleep and dream, I don't think so.

      3. Yes you do. It's called dream control. It varies from person to person, but it can be improved and perhaps mastered. It's not necessarily in first person view though, but once you get lucid, you can choose to put yourself in 1st person view.

      4. Yes, REM Atonia "shuts off" our body every time we sleep so we don't act out our dreams. Sleep paralysis is when you are awake to notice it happening.

      5. Well, you can have hallucinations, but I wouldn't use the word "suffer". They don't even have to be visual, they can be auditory hallucinations as well. They can be pleasant or not, it really depends on what you think and imagine. They are amazing things that you can have fun with. Also, lucid dreams don't require have hallucinations, so don't be afraid of it or anything.

And yeah, you can do ANYTHING in a lucid dream. No rules, no sensible physics needed. If you can imagine it, it can happen. It may sound absurd, but it is really the truth. You can morph, use powers, eat (and yes dream food is awesome), and do just anything you can think of. Also, lucid dreams are very realistic, which is very amazing to experience. Of course, some may be less vivid and a bit hazy, but basically lucid dreams mimic real life.

Also, with regards to the supplements, they don't necessarily have to be for people with conditions whatsoever, they can be used for enhancing recall, dream quality and vividness, etc.

Lastly, lucid dreaming can be used to face (and help you eradicate) your fears.

Well, that's pretty much it. Make sure to check out this link to get you started: http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/

Don't hesitate to ask around! Lucid dreaming is absolutely amazing

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

All I can say is that fear does not exist in my dreams, I can jump of the highest mountains, latch on to jets (or be one) or just kick the shit out of some zombies. When you are truly lucid you should realise that nothing can harm you.

Thank you guys for replying. I will start practicing in lucid dreaming. I have more questions though. If I have a nightmare (a lucid one because I am not scared by non-lucids), how am I supposed to deal with it? From one hand I really wanna face my fears and beat them, on the other hand though I am not that brave in order to do this. A lucid nightmare will scare the crap out of me and I am sure of it. I am not afraid of people like terrorists, abductors etc.. But I am afraid of other fictional characters (abstract if you prefer). They wouldn't be my fears if they didn't scare me of course. So in any case what is the best way to deal with a nightmare? Does my subconscious wants to tell me something by that? But why would my subconscious would want to scare the crap out of me? Shall I wake myself up? Is that possible in lucid dreaming? I am not brave enough and usually before getting to sleep always the worst thoughts come to my mind which I can't really control. I do not have any anxiety issue. Sometimes though, there are things that are bothering me (everyone has problems so its quite normal). What can I do in order to stop my mind making such thoughts?

One last question. I can think of some scenes that I haven't really dreamed before. For instance, I really want to morph myself to Connor (from Assassin's Creed 3), parkouring around at Boston and beating the crap out of Templars. I haven't had such dream though, but I can imagine the scenery, the characters, the weather, the atmosphere (everything in particular). So can I make it happen? I haven't had any lucid dream before, but if it's true that you can do anything since there are no physic, nature laws etc.. I suspect lucid dreaming would be like video games, doing whatever you want without any logic! Sometimes I don't even have logic on my own. Of course the willpower is strong inside me. I have never failed anywhere and I always get what I want (easily or with effort).

When I face a fear (rarely) I just make myself feel like I am a 1000 times more evil than this creature, with little of my power I thrash him around and it usually ends then.
As for LD's being like games they really are, just imagine where you want to be and with a little practise you can make anything reality.

Hmmm well first of all, since there are varying degrees of dream control as I've mentioned, when you become lucid, you can try to change the scene. Or if that becomes a bit hard, you can start out by changing the object/person which is scaring you. It's really all in your head, so your "fuel" so to speak would be your imagination. Imagine it to be something else. Or do verbal commands like "leave!" or "go away!". You can read http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/traini...6/#post1792294 for more info on dream control.

About the negative thoughts before going to sleep, I suggest you do some relaxation techniques to help clear your mind. You can do breathing exercises like counting your breaths, or anything that you can consistently focus on, so the negative thoughts will be somehow blocked. Or you can simply focus on something else. Like you said, you can imagine sceneries and characters. Use that instead. Focus on what you want to dream about, incubate it. If some random negative thoughts invade your mind, quickly think of something else and don't dwell on it. And yes, those daydreams you created can indeed happen! That's the best part about it. You can make up your own scenes, or have a random one generated by your mind. Either way, it's all up to you and your imagination. Good luck!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

I have already answered some of your questions in PM.

      1. Yes, you can wake yourself up from lucid dream by usually thinking about your real body and also by closing your eyes.
      2. You can "incubate" your dream by thinking about dreamscape scenery and charakters.
      3. Yup, there are no laws of physics in LD. First thing most of the LDers likes to do is to FLY!
      Happy dreams
