Hey George, welcome to Dream Views!
Ehh, I'll try to answer your questions as best as I can:
1. Having lucid dreams is just like any other skill you need to practice to get good at. Some are naturally gifted, while others may require greater effort. So yes and no, it may or may not be easy, depending on the person. And yes, the nightmares can be scary. But then again, they're not real, so no need to worry. Plus, once you learn to control your dream, you can do basically anything with it and turn nightmares into pleasant dreams.
2. Unless you have some medical issues that may get affected when you sleep and dream, I don't think so.
3. Yes you do. It's called dream control. It varies from person to person, but it can be improved and perhaps mastered. It's not necessarily in first person view though, but once you get lucid, you can choose to put yourself in 1st person view.
4. Yes, REM Atonia "shuts off" our body every time we sleep so we don't act out our dreams. Sleep paralysis is when you are awake to notice it happening.
5. Well, you can have hallucinations, but I wouldn't use the word "suffer". They don't even have to be visual, they can be auditory hallucinations as well. They can be pleasant or not, it really depends on what you think and imagine. They are amazing things that you can have fun with. Also, lucid dreams don't require have hallucinations, so don't be afraid of it or anything.
And yeah, you can do ANYTHING in a lucid dream. No rules, no sensible physics needed. If you can imagine it, it can happen. It may sound absurd, but it is really the truth. You can morph, use powers, eat (and yes dream food is awesome), and do just anything you can think of. Also, lucid dreams are very realistic, which is very amazing to experience. Of course, some may be less vivid and a bit hazy, but basically lucid dreams mimic real life.
Also, with regards to the supplements, they don't necessarily have to be for people with conditions whatsoever, they can be used for enhancing recall, dream quality and vividness, etc.
Lastly, lucid dreaming can be used to face (and help you eradicate) your fears.
Well, that's pretty much it. Make sure to check out this link to get you started: http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/
