hello I've been lurking a lot around here, and I thought I might as well introduce myself.
so... hello I'm Martijn, currently looking for my dream guide, had lots of lucid dreams since I was little, because I had to get find some way of dealing with those nasty nightmares, I also don't keep a real DJ because i can never find the time to update it I might need to in the future and if anyone knows any good ways of finding your DG please tell me.

Heres one way i heard of.
In your lucid dream yell out "Show yourself dream guide!" and turn around. Chances are someone will be behind you, but that doesn't necessarily mean that entity is your dream guide. To find out, ask for it's name and ask if he/she is your dream guide. If the entity says something random like "I like peanut butter and penguins!" than chances are it is not your dream guide. Also, keep in mind that dream guides tend to be more detailed in appearance and intelligent. Some also say that if you are unsuccessful finding your dream guide, it can mean that your dream guide thinks you are not ready. If this is the case, work on improving your frequency of lucid dreams and your dream controll. Good luck!

I wish you luck finding your dream guide. What are you hoping to learn from your guide once you find him?

      You don't find him.

      You create him.

      jblb2424, Ill try that.
robot_butler, I hope to get some general answerers from him, also to increase my lucidity in following dreams and to get a better grip on realty in general.
Gills, Ill see once I another lucid, I'm just looking for ways to do it now, as just creating something only works if I'm actually agreeing with myself once, the more lucid I get the harder that gets so I might not remember to do it.
Anyone know a good way to find your dream guide?

      Hey Martijn! Welcome to DV!

Ahhh, I am also currently looking for my dream guide. I have received tons of advice on finding him/her, but the best one I heard is probably this:

Just call out for him. If someone responds, then awesome. If not, then maybe he just isn't ready to show himself yet. In any case, they're just facets of your subconscious, so the more you motivate yourself and think positively about it, then sooner or later, you will find him. Or even better, you can think about it as "finding yourself". Lol.

      Good luck!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Welcome to Dream Views! I actually believe in two types of DGs. First, what Gills and Paigeyemps refer to, which is a creation of your sub-concious, and can be valuable as far as insight into your own mind. Second, I believe in actual DGs that exist in a dream (astral) realm, and some times take students, teaching them very advanced and weird stuff.
Which ever you seek, it is the best idea (as every one has told you) to actually call out inside the dream. My suggestion is something like "I am ready, please help me!" I personally called out "SIVA!" over and over, wwhich to me represents god as the dreamer, or dreaming as an aspect of god. Very soon after starting this I got the feeling of being watched. It is a long crazy story after that. I also agree with the idea (as others have told you) that true dream guuides will want you to be ready before they approach you. The true astral DGs may expect you to spend a few years mastering as much of LDing as you can on your own first. They may also want to watch what you do to make sure you are a good person, so do not hurt DCs and do nasty or violent things after the first time you call out.
      Have fun!!!
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.

Sorry to bump such an old post but, isn't Shiva (Siva) according to various religions the "destroyer of worlds" or a representation of destruction? I've read that Shiva is also a direct parallel to Abaddon, or Apollyon, or Shiva, apparently that entity is the "Beast" who rises from the bottomless pit, and destroys the world. I've read that CERN has a Shiva statue at their building, and their mission (like in half-life) is to create a portal (blackhole/bottomless pit) from which the past (beast) will come through to destroy the world. I'm just curious if you ever came upon this information.

A more proper way to think of Shiva is a bringer of change. basically each of the 3 main gods have many attributes give to them. Shiva is also Lord of meditation, magic, and dreams. Even as 'destroyer' it is because new things can only arise (creation/ Vishnu) if the existing thing (reality as it is/ Brahma) is destroyed. If you plant a meadow with corn (creation) you no longer have a meadow (destruction of the meadow).

In terms of dreaming, this destruction aspect has little to do with the Lord of Dreams aspect.
