      Newbie

      Hi everyone,

I've been a lucid dreamer for many, many years (since childhood) but didn't know that it could be 'harnessed' (for lack of a better word) until a few years ago and since then I have read a lot about it and thought I was going along quite smoothly - until recently - my dreams have become so realistic that sometimes It takes me a while to realise it was a dream and not something I actually did.
So, I googled my current problem and found this forum and decided it's time I started to share my experiences with more knowledgeable people who can help me out - instead of driving myself insane trying to work it all out myself.

I'm not a spiritual person at all, but I have done meditation in a sort of clinical sort of way and my dreams seem more intense since viewing them from a 'Buddhist' sort of angle.

I look forward to meeting you all.

Edit: After reading on DV about the different types of Lucid Dream I wanted to ask a question - I feel like my Lucid Dreams are of the WILD catagory - Is it possible that I could do that without trying? Is it 'built-in' for some people?

      Hey there! Welcome to DreamViews

Hmm I'm not sure you can do a WILD without trying. There will always be an aspect of it where you consciously try to maintain your awareness. So I guess that's still trying right? I am not certain though. From what I learned in the WILD class on DreamViews, you cannot have an "accidental WILD". Although, WILDing (and lucid dreaming in general) differs for everyone. Some 'click' with WILD much better than others, while others need more patience and effort.

If you're interested, here is the link for the class I mentioned. It's really in-depth and informative.

      WILD (Sageous)

Please don't hesitate to ask questions or share your ideas with us!

Good luck and see you around

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Could you describe them more? How does it happen for you? I don't think WILD is something you can do without trying.

      Thanks for the replies.

I'll check out that link more thoroughly over the next few days, thanks, Paigeyemps.

Well, they are a more recent occurrence and it'll sound dumb! But I have a new cat which insists on being let out at 6am. I try to ignore it but it will just jump on my head until I get up and let it go outside. I usually do this in a very sleepy state and when I get back in bed I feel a sort of 'heaviness' in my head and I hear muffled voices as I'm drifting off, and sometimes see imagery. I've actually talked to doctors about this because I thought I was going mad. Of course, they all dismiss it as some phenomena that doesn't really mean anything. But after coming back to bed I tend to have my best lucid dreams. If I don't like the dream I am able to pull myself back into awakening (which takes a bit of effort).
I have had this experience before without the cat, LOL. Usually when a loud noise or someone abruptly wakes me before it's time to get up and I drift back into sleep.

But, as I said, I have been doing a lot of research over the last year-ish, so maybe on a subconscious level I know what is happening and allow it. But I've never "tried" to do it, it just happens.
