      Smile Introducing myself :)

      Hello,

I'm really excited about finding this website! It looks like a rich resource and a strong community to participate in. For now, I'd like to introduce myself as WalkingInWinter. I'm a 3rd year psychology major. My goal is to go into cognitive neuroscience and study dreams. Until then however, I'd like to master the craft of lucid dreaming for myself!

Don't ask me psychological questions about dreaming and so on though! I am just a humble undergrad still, lol.

      Hi there

      Welcome to DreamViews!

Feel free to browse the site and share your ideas/questions with us. Don't forget to check out our Wiki pages, and of course http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/.

So, how has your dreaming been so far? And how long have you been into it?

      See ya around, enjoy!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

I've been into it on and off for years. Haven't really gotten disciplined enough to LD everynight though. I'd like to change that. I've experienced things like half WILDs; with all the strange noises and floating feelings, but then I freak out and wake myself up to some sleep paralysis which freaks me out more, lol. And just some extremely real-feeling dreams. Those dreams ensured that I never forgot about LDing, so here I am.

Having trouble getting started though, as I've been too lazy to record my dreams when I first wake up! So I guess that's my first step.

      Thank you for the welcome!

      Welcome to the forum!

It can be difficult to maintain the discipline for recording your dreams if you don't have the motivation to do so. I know it and many here do. However keeping up with a dream journal provides its own reward. Your recall improves, clarity in dreams improves and it's likely you will have longer dreams or memories of dreams. Plus you get 10 Community Hall points every time you post a dream in the online dream journal system.

Speaking of that motivation, we have an Intro Class For Beginners that helps teach the basics, introduces you to induction methods and ways to incubate specific ideas or scenarios, and provides a classroom setting through lessons and an online chat. The idea is you create a workbook to record your efforts where you get feedback from class instructors and fellow pupils. It's a great class and really helps with motivation. Check out the DVA Academy and look over the classes offered.

This forum is rich with information and insight all provided by people like you who want to have lucid dreams or find more joy in something they already do nightly. I hope you find it helps your continued interest in cognitive neuroscience and the amazing world of the mind.

Oh, Paige and I are Dream Guides here, staff members to help you find information and answer questions. You can post on the forum or ask us directly using the private messaging system if you have questions or forum issues. We're here to help!

      Pleasant dreams!

Thanks for the welcome Glamonis and melanieb.

Lol it's funny. When you mentioned the community hall points I was like, "Omg! I gotta get those points!", even though I don't know what they're for yet. But really, I was hesitant to post my dreams pubicly but now I feel motivated to contribute.

The classes spark my interest as well so I'll look into that too.

      Thank you, .
