I'm sure you will find many friends here, as we are a friendly bunch. But let me tell you, you need to start believing in yourself and loose the skepticism. Intent, believing, excitement are the most important components of lucid dreaming.

So just read the forums, other people dream journals to get yourself motivated and you will succeed.

I was never skeptic, because I had lots of aware moments in my dreams as a kid. However my friend was skeptical, he said that one just imagine that one is aware.

And well... that is true in some cases, you can actaully dream that you are lucid without truly being aware that you are dreaming, it's a strange concept but you might experience it yourself someday.

Although those times you are perfectly aware, just as aware as you are now, awareness means to have information about certain things.

Low awareness can be for example: Oh I wasn't aware that you had a new car. Or higher awareness can be the 2D woman who understands 3D:

Awareness of a dream is having the information that you are dreaming. But just the knowledge of that doesn't guarantee that you are very aware at all, you might know that you are dreaming, but are still unaware that dream characters aren't real or that you have control of the dream. So Awareness and Lucidity is different things.

My main focus is awareness and lucidity is just a bonus

But when you are truly aware of a dream for the first time, you will be aware in that moment and understand that it is possible to lucid dream.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm most certainly excited to have my first lucid dream. I've been reading a lot around the forums, and I'm willing to be patient in learning how to lucid dream like a pro! :p
