New to the site and still trying...!

      Hello all!

I was amazed to find such a detailed site about lucid dreaming so I registered right away!

I would like to say hello to everyone first. I m relatively new to LD I say relatively because I ve been attracted to it for like 10 years but in these 10 years I ve only did few very short lasting tries so I would say they do not count.

One month ago I decided to go for real and started reading and reading sites and books to study more about LD.

I started the dream journal..was amazed to start with one dream a week to now between 1 to 3 dreams a night. I try not to set a time expectation for LD because I know it s not the right way to do it, but it s a bit hard too. At least for now I try to enjoy going to sleep thinking about what will come out during the next night.

Some issue I do have at this point I would like to tell you too...very difficult for me to do reality check during the day cause my work is very crazy and I figure out the day ended and I did not think about it once...or if I think about it I do a reality check but I do not really ¨believe¨ in it...dont know if you know what I mean..I do it already knowing i m not dreaming...I think this is not correct...

Also even if i m not going to bed too late it s very difficult for me to think about anything going to bed because I drop asleep in like 4 minutes

I hope to know more of you guys and all the forums...thank you for all the tips and support.

I feel I will make it at least this time I do not want to give up (2 nights ago I even dreamed of being called by someone that talked to me about LD over the phone for like 20 min and I did not even catch this BIG cue heheh I was a bit disappointed)

      See you!

      Welcome Yanickma!

You seem to have a good idea of the mindset so no need for me to go over that.

Something to know about reality checks. They are enoguh to get you lucid and are useful, but they are not necessary in order to make you aware of a dream.

I know how it can be to perform reality checks, really stressful, and I talk alot to people and at those times I don't want to perform a reality check because it makes me forget what I talk about.
But what you can do instead is to learn about the power of your intent. If you affirm before going sleep that you want to see your hands, within a week you will start remembering dreams where you saw your hands, and later on perhaps even realize how strange they looked, and eventually become lucid.

So what I suggest you do is that you recall your dreams and try to remember how it felt to be dreaming that dream, this way you are using your mind's eye to sort of re-experience the dream sensation. And when you know how it feels to dream you can change your mantra or affirmation to "The next time I am dreaming I will look at my hands". And this will work just as good.

So keep recalling the dreams and the rest will come naturally if you stay interested in the normal dreams as well.

      Awesome avatar by the way

      Sweet dreams!

      Hello MasterMind,

Thank you very much for the answer...I read lots of your posts and they are all very useful.

I like very much the way you just described that other use of the reality check...

I will definitively try this to focus on seeing my hands going to sleep and hoping I will be able to make some entries in my dream journal with dreams including my hands..

I have a quite scientific constructed mind I like to focus on steps and rules and go from there not sure if this is good or not...

I even started doing Excel charts of my hours of sleep vs number of dreams hehe and I love that and found out my peak dream recall is around my fifth hour of sleep...

So i will try your recommendations too!

      Thanks a lot!

Thanks for reading! I am glad to hear that my posts are helpful.

A step and rules focus is good I use a whole perspective instead and only focus on meditation, but I have been step oriented since I started.

None of them are better than the other, it all comes down to perference.

Something that I want to point out though is that step by step you can learn exactly what you need to do to become lucid, but the downside is that it's easy to become dependent on the steps.

I for example convinced myself that I could only WILD on my back, but as soon as I changed posture I would fall asleep like a lamb.

But there are lots of positive affects as well, and I have learned lots from it.

Enjoy your stay I am sure you will learn lots

      Hello guys!

Thank you for the replies...sorry I did not wrote back sooner...seems I did not receive the answer in my email I just noticed I had more replies.

LSD, why exactly you say I am like you? by the way I described how I m trying to get to LD, or my steps focused approach? I d like to know, maybe that can help me to get there...

I have some update..my first month (october) was for dream recall and DJ....I started well...now for november I will add the day awareness and reality check I ve had so many difficulties to start and remember. I just wrote "reality check" on my white board at work and bingo now I remember to feel aware like 10 times a day.

I ve been trh a straight 5 days without any dream recall I was scared that maybe focusing on awareness made me forget about dream recall but last night I got 4 dreams recalled so I hope i m back on track!

Hope to get good results this month!

      See you all soon!

Yeah, dream recall can seem on and off for a while but as you keep practicing, it will get better and more consistent. Also I'm glad you are taking things one step at a time. A lot of people try EVERYTHING in one day and don't understand why they fail. Anyways, good luck on everything your doing. Hope you get Lucids soon

Hey Mancon, thanks for the advice...I did read a lot about people trying to do everything at once so i m trying to go in layer by layer hehe

And last night I got a really strong dream whre I "think" I was having a lucid dream into the dream....kind of confusing, and I was working on some sort of technique to expell some negative energy inside me, and it worked in a sudden and I feel a deligthful and very exhalarating emotion of beeig freed of something that was bothering me inside , so much that I woke up in the dream and continued feeling this amazingly positive emotion and rush being "awake" in the dream and then I think I woke up for real....

The emotion was not that strong in reality but the dream was very nice.. and I dont think it was lucid...or if it seemed lucid I think it was a false lucidity created in the dream ...(wow am i making sense here!!?? ) .I m telling the dream here because it makes me think about how strong it must be to have a lucid dream and use an action or dream character to deal with issue inside and let them go like this..! Anyone has already did something like that in LD ?
