      Hi Guys. Getting discouraged.

      Hey guys,
I'm brand new to this forum. I'm 21, and have been half-assedly trying to lucid dream for about 2 years now. Have only become lucid twice for a very very brief amount of time before waking up.

I've tried so many techniques to lucid dream and nothing works.
Like I said, It's been a pretty half assed attempt the passed 2 years, so
I don't keep a dream journal or anything.(Can't ever remember to get up and write it down).

It seems my main problem is staying focused while falling asleep, even trying the WILD technique, I either fall asleep too quickly, or my mind wanders completely off task so when I do finally fall asleep, my mind isn't focusing on dreaming at all.

It's so discouraging, there are SO many things I have thought up to do when I do start controlling them, but I haven't been able to put any of it into action.

Both times I became lucid, they were just by chance. I hadn't used any such technique to achieve lucidity.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully some of you out there have had the same problem and finally learned anyways.
I'm starting to worry that I'll never be able to have a real lucid dream simply because my mind can't focus when i'm falling asleep.

      Thanks in advance everyone,
      happy dreaming!

I suggest you start from the scratch. The 2 LDs you had didn't happen because you didn't practice anything, but because you were thinking about lucid dreaming.

Dream recall and writing in DJ is a catch22. If you don't write in your DJ, you don't recall your dreams. If you don't recall your dreams, you have nothing to write. You can fix this this way:

      1. write in your DJ everything, even if it's just one word or feeling. If you don't remember anything, write "I have great memory and my recall is getting better every day" - self-fulfilling prophecy
      2. drink water before bed and everytime you wake up. You are most likely to wake up after REM, so pay attention to these micro-awakenings.

If you can't remember your dreams, try this

Please read as many tutorials as you can in DV Wiki and in the forums. Pick your method (DILD is the easiest to start with). If youl'd like personalized guidance, please check out our DV Academy.

      Happy dreams

      Gablin ^-^

      Welcome Rhoto!

Here is something that seem to have helped some people understand my perspective (Actually Dream Yoga) of lucid dreaming without me having to write a new wall of text here

Yoga Nidra or Conscious Sleep - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

You will understand why your lucid moments happend to you while not even trying, after reading this.

For the WILD technique I am currently learning to master it myself before bedtime, yes you read that correct

I am meditating myself to sleep and sometimes it just leads me to a vivid DILD but from time to time I manage to induce a full WILD.
By falling asleep aware you will also notice your micro awakenings that you have during the night, which also are perfect oppurtunities for a WILD/DEILD.

But if you need help with anything just ask!

Either way my goal is not lucidity in itself it just a bonus, my goal is exploration of the consciousness!

You can look around the forum for guides and I have some analyzing texts from my attempts in my Dream Journal as well, but remember to only see it as guidelines not facts and keep in mind that you already naturally know how to be aware.

      Sweet dreams
