      Unhappy Getting discouraged.

      Greetings,

I feel like I'm getting no where.

I've been trying to lucid dream since I signed up here at DreamViews (1 month and 1 day). So far I've been somewhat unsuccessful I've woken up in sleep paralysis once before and have been able to drift in and out of sleep paralysis once seconds after... that was about 1 week after I signed up.

When I started out with the WILD method sleep paralysis was a very real thing. I mean I could feel the different stages coming on. I'm sure most of you know what I mean -- if not, all of you. I could really feel a strong twitching feeling in my toes, feet, legs, fingers and so on. Once have I been able to attain full body SP but no further from there. I make sure I am tired enough at night. I longboard a distance of 14.8 kilometers almost every other day. Still, I have had no real success.

I've read a lot on most of the techniques, the DILD and WILD methods in particular (including KingYoshi's WILD technique). I've also read the FILD, CWILD, WBTB, ADA (KingYoshi's DILD technique) (the CWILD technique is not of much use for me as I cannot sleep if I drink a caffeinated drink before bed). I got further with FILD method really but so far haven't done much with it as it takes a very long time to do (in my case). I've contemplated taking full days on which I am free and doing reality checks the entire day -- I haven't done so due to a lack of motivation as I am just so discouraged at the moment.

Okay that's enough writing for now I'll check back later. Thank you for reading.

Try the WBTB with MILD technique. It works great for me. Keep on trying! You'll get lucid one day for sure.

Lucid Dreaming takes patience. It took my 2 years to start having real LDs. You will get there, I often felt discouraged and thought I couldn't LD.

But here is my advice. Find one technique and stick with it! Don't keep switching between them just because you don't have sucess with the technique after a week. . Plus you need to be keeping a Dream Journal.

But anyway, don't get discouraged and be patient! Lucid Dreaming takes patience and when you start achieving them, you will be very glad you waited. I sure am.

      Hope this helps man!

      YO BRO, LISTEN UP!

You are a million thousand million fabillion times ahead of most newbies. Some can't even reach SP after an entire year. I was in the same spot as you, about a month in and getting close to completing a WILD. Try taking a break for a bit, re-reading tutorials, reading new ones, and just give your mind a refresher on lucid dreaming in general, get all pumped up and inspired like you were in the beginning. Then you can come back to it stronger than before and I'm sure you'll have a break through at some point, it may even be by accident. My first WILD was by accident but it helped me further my understanding of the stages, as you mentioned, of sleep paralysis and transitioning into a dream. Now if I take a nap or wake up in the middle of the night, I can almost always WILD.

Keep on keepin' on, you're good to go.

Staying positive and patient helps. It could take months to start having lucid dreams, and many months more to have them with any regularity. But it is worth all the effort.
You can learn and gain experience from each attempt, even if the attempt is not a whole success.
Since it sounds like you are having some progress with WILD, you could continue experimenting with that, trying different little things to see what works for you. Or, since you are feeling discouraged, it might be good for you to take a short break, for a week or a few days. Or you could experiment with another method for a while.
      It's all in your head.

Congrats on your first lucid dream! :bravo: Compared to a lot of other new people here, you learned it pretty quickly. Can't wait to hear about it.

Thanks Matte87, I took your advice and was able to do a WBTB and got lucid I had to make sure I didn't move when I woke up and I shut my eyes immediately when I realised I was awake. I actually skipped the transition stage and went straight into a dream state. it took me a while to realise what had happened - about 1 minute I'd expect - then I was lucid but I shut my eyes in the dream to summon my best friend. Clearly I'm not familiar with summoning methods. Perhaps you or someone else could enlighten me.

I just say the item I want to summon while imagining it appearing in front of me or wherever I want it. I don't recomend this though unless you think you can do it. I think people have a hard time doing it that way. You could try walking around a corner and expect the item/person to be there. That seems to work for most people. Or you could memorize the summoning jutsu from Naruto.

This would really be able to explain dream control better actually: Dream Control Tutorial. It even has summoning listed!

I don't know much about this, but have you dove deep into chakra meditation yet?

Back when I was learning about chi energy I learned about chakra meditation. I never actually tried to focus on chakras though. I'm also a little skeptical to idea of chakras.

I must say that I also couldn't have done it without the help of KingYoshi. He has given me some really good advice in past. I also followed Tara's advice and took a break from trying to lucid dream. I've just started my dream journal again 2 days ago. I had one going on my laptop before it broke, my HDD is encrypted so I have to think about decrypting it sometime and getting that data off it.

      @Oreoboy1996
What is chakra meditation? Could you perhaps give me a rough explanation of what it is.

That's great you got lucid. You can also try setting goals, like flying, or set a goal to get another lucid within 30 days.

I will definitely do so. I'm going to bed now so I'm going to do my preparations. I have aimed for lucidity almost every night, but a realistic goal is most welcome.

      Good night

Well supposedly we all have 7 chakras in our body from the base of the spine to the top of our heads. Chakra meditation focuses on aligning and making the chakras spin at their normal speed. Aligning the chakras and spinning them can give you energy and keep you healthy. The crown chakra at the top of your head also has something to do with astral projection.

ehm... confusing. I'd have to do some more research -- my mother told me about the 3rd chakra and now I understand why you are a little skeptical. It's hard to grasp and seems extremely symbolic/philosophical, (at least I think so).

I think the 3rd chakra is the yellow solar-plexus chakra and is located in your upper stomach. If healthy, you will make good decisions and spend time wisely. I think mine is dead.

You have too much on your mind. Clear your mind fully and truly relax. After that perform MILD - perform visualisations and repeat a mantra and make sure it sinks into your mind. Good luck!
