      Wink Evening, all.

I noticed the majority of new members made introductory posts here so I thought I'd take a pop at it. Not having much experience with LDs, I don't have a lot to contribute in regard to discussing them (except for some vague memories of lucid dreams when I was younger brought about by several false awakenings and some strange sick feeling whilst flying in a dream) but I hope that'll soon change with the help of tutorials and users on DreamViews. Evening, all!

      Evening and welcome lukes7913

You don't have to contribute with things now at an instant, your welcome to do it at anytime you want.

Nothing is right and nothing is wrong, there are no bullet proof ways of lucid dreaming and remember that while you are reading different guides and methods.

There are many good guides here but remember that it's your own experience that matters and what you should relay on.

Books and common sense once said that the earth was flat, but then people went to the "end of the world" and realized that it wasn't an end it actually continued and they learned new things and got new perspectives.

See you practise in the same way, what guides and method tells you should only be seen as guidelines but what is right all comes down to your own experience.

An example from my own experience, most sources tells you that you will get the best result with the WBTB technique and that you should never WILD at bedtime, well guess what I tried it and realized that I liked to do my attempts and got the best results when I did it on bedtime, that's for me though it's different for everyone, but my point is that it's not written in stone.

So start out by reading guides and try some different techniques (DILD or WILD) and methods which is variations of the techniques, and see what you like the most, but if you don't see any results don't be afraid to alter the ways you perform each induction.

And of course always ask for help, helping each other with our experience and knowledge is what the Dreamviews is for.

Sorry for a long post, but I hope it makes you feel welcomed Anyway I'll stop writing now...

Sweet dreams and enjoy your stay! ^-^

Consider me welcomed! Thanks for the great advice as well. I had considered trying to go solo (without an established method) for a while and I think I'll try it. I like to think that I rely on logic and reason a lot of the time and with prompting an LD being a mechanic of the mind, I thought I'd be able to apply some basic logic to the matter and see how it goes. I'm hoping to establish some kind of dream control method while I'm here and have read some rather intriguing things about matters discouraged on this forum, like watching television programmes or movies before sleeping, to apply some sort of sci-fi or fantasy basis to the whole thing (like the white room and the telephone in 'The Matrix', a rather novel and almost laughable idea admittedly). I too apologize for babbling! Thanks for the reply!

Haha glad that you liked it. Ok I say already that I will try to make this post SHORT! ... Let's see how that goes.

Ah great idea sounds fun, I used to incubate dreams as a child like I believed that if I put my right arm under my pillow and visualized what I wanted to dream I would dream it.

And I did I thought of Harry Potter and later that night I was in Hogwarts although in the dream I was disapointed because the castle didn't looked as I wanted it to look, however I was lucid and free, but that was clearly not important, I wanted Hogwarts! ...

And ahh I am a great Matrix fan and the telephone method "Tank I need an Apache Helicopter" have actually wait for it ... already been tried and true by me
Yeah I summoned an Apache helicopter, surprisingly easy to fly until I crashed into a mountain and saw Jesus and lost my lucidity... yeah kind of strange dream that one.

I do however think that the Click Control (literally Dream Control ^-^) is my way to go for now, if I would just remember it.... Have you seen the movie click? In that case you'll get the idea

Oh and also, the movie The Matrix is actually the reason I started lucid dreaming, apart from my childhood incubated dreams. After watching the movie I got so philosophical, and critical to the existence itself o. O And that obviously led me to become lucid one night and then I found Tim Posts Lucidipedia tutorials on Youtube and later on Dreamviews

Hmmm... not super long post, but it was definitelly not short, ah well I hope you could descend this wall of text. xD

The white room control does sound interesting though, sort of like a Garry's Mod game but in the dream! Haha have fun with that.

I'll stop babbling now as well.

      Hehe.. Sweet dreams

I used to think that my head was like an antenna and when I moved it the picture would change to a different one. If I didn't like the visual I would just change where my head was pointing. I think that that was the first of my dream incubating, not really a set incubation like I learned and use now, but definitely a start.

Welcome to Dream Views! This is the place to be for anyone wanting to learn how to lucid dream. The Dream guide team is here to help you navigate the forum and answer questions. We all have 3 green stars above our avatar. Click on our user name and you can then select private message if you have a question, or you can start new threads. Don't worry about starting threads that have been started before, just try it out, if it ends up in the wrong place one of us can move it for you.

The very first thing you should do is check out basic tutorials. This one covers most of the terms you will see members using, so start here, http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/

Also be sure to check out the DVA Dream Views Acadamy, click on this link to get there, DV Academy.

Matte , our Dream Guide team leader runs a general lucid dreaming class, and you can join in contests where you gain points for dreams you have. General Lucid Dreaming (Matte87)

Gab , another Dream Guide runs a class that is very valuable to beginners on MILD/DILD, which is by far the best method to start with. DILD (Hukif and gab)

Finally as far as the DVA stuff goes, there is a class on introduction to lucid dreaming. This is a great place if you are just starting out and need a little personal help. Intro Class (OpheliaBlue, RareCola, CanisLucidus, Chimpertainment, Xanous)

Now, on the lighter side, you may be excited to learn to fly! Here is a thread where people explain how they went about learning to fly, http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/can-u-...u-learn-40468/

Then just for a laugh here is a thread where people list all the things they want to do in an LD. It is mostly light hearted and supposed to be funny, http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/1000-t...-dream-104556/

Have fun and good luck with your dreaming!
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.
