      hello dreamers.~

Hello everyone, I am Chiara (fyi: spelt as 'key-uh-rah'). I grew fond of lucid dreaming about a week ago, and I've spent these days looking endlessly for more and more informations - and that's how I came across to this wonderful forum.
I crave knowledge and emotions, so being able to interact with my subconcious and experiencing such breath-taking stuff seems like a holy grail to me.
I have experiencing lucid dreaming just once in my early childhood, but as soon as I realized I was dreaming I told any dream character that I had to wake up. Am I regretting this hard now? You betcha.
I am looking forward experiencing my first lucid dream, yet I understand that this is going to be a long and corrugated path - but one definitely worth walking down!
I am actually trying to achieve my first lucid via MILD, but I am interested in giving WILD and VILD a try as well.
Thanks a lot for reading this! I hope the both of us will share interesting tips and stories!

      Chiara.
(sorry for any grammar and spelling mistake, I am an Italian fifteen years old girl.)

      Hey Chiara, welcome to DreamViews!

Check out http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/ for some basic info regarding lucid dreaming. There are also useful links in there for different guides and tutorials.

You're right, lucid dreaming is worth all the effort and patience! MILD is my favorite technique btw, so if you have any questions, ask away!

Good luck, and see you around

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

thanks everyone. Paigeyemps, woah, MILD has always seemed pretty hard to me. It's just that while dreaming I find dancing with Charlie Chaplin one of the most normal things ever, haha! I always daydream about unrealistic scenarios, so I'm not that used in questioning reality... Yet I still find time to do some reality checks within the day.
benzilla04, thanks a lot to you, too! and Santoryu, haha, good luck for you! I do hope you will achieve your fist lucid dream as soon as possible. And thanks also for your helpful advice! ~

Ahh I see. One thing you can do is: when you daydream those unrealistic scenarios, include a part where you reality check (in the daydream intself). That way, if ever the daydream gets incubated and you dream about those things, there will still be an element of awareness and questioning your reality. I hope that makes sense good luck!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Woah paigeyemps, that does absolutely make sense. Thanks so much! I'm going to give it a try. Do you combine MILD with any other technique? Aaaand, do you have lucids just during afternoon naps or after having woken up in the middle of the night? I'm just curious because, as I'm living in my parents' house, I don't want to turn in any alarm clock at 2AM or something, and in the afternoon I mostly study. Do you think I'm likely to achieve my first lucid dream even by not counting my REM cycles or something? Thanks again, you've been really helpful.

Most of the time I just do MILD and All Day Awareness. However on Friday and Saturday nights I try to do WBTB+MILD since it's the only time I can afford to get up in the middle of the night and the only time I don't have to wake up early the next day.

I sometimes have lucids during afternoon naps, and I get lucids even without waking up in the middle of the night. As for using an alarm, maybe you can use a soft alarm, or a sound that gradually increases? Or maybe you can use a vibrating alarm so you don't wake anyone else up.

Noone can really tell when you will get lucid. Even I don't really get too much into the technical side of REM cycles. However, practicing awareness, reality checks, as well as doing WBTB can greatly help you out. Just keep in mind that every time you sleep is a chance for a lucid!

Thanks a lot for your advices! I had a sort-of lucid yesterday night. i made a reality check that sort-of worked and i asked my subconscious what my biggest passion was. I turned back and I found a sheet of paper with 'being alone and destroying friendships' written in it.
I don't think I was lucid at all. It didn't feel any vivid, and I reacted in ways my conscious self wouldn't. It was like seeing me in an auto-pilot.
Maybe I was on the way of attaining lucidity, but I think my subconscious didn't want me to? Probably he wanted to tell me something far more important...
Plus I'm not a monster, and I swear 'being alone' and 'destroying friendships' aren't hobbies of mine - despite being comfortable with spending time alone, friendships that fade to an end are actually one of the most hurtful things that have ever happened to me. What do you think about it? Do you behave in ways you wouldn't in a lucid, or does it mean you aren't actually lucid at all?

Hi Chiara . I dont have much experience in interpreting dreams, but I do have an explanation to what you saw in your dream. You did ask " What is my BIGGEST passion?". Being alone and destroying friendships might be a passion of yours that you might not notice but do naturally on a certain basis, and has the BIGGEST influence on your relative life. Maybe next time try asking "What is my true passion." or "What is my greatest passion." Maybe I'm completely wrong but that's just a thought that came across me mind when reading it

I agree. And also, remember that dreams are usually very unpredictable and spontaneous. They usually say the most random and weird stuff, so don't fret if you get them.

One question though: what made you do a reality check? And was there a certain moment when you realized it was a dream? I sometimes get those kinds of dreams where I reality check and think it's a dream but I'm not fully there. Like in the dream, I know it's a dream but my dream mind thinks it's completely normal so I never really "get lucid". If that makes sense. :3

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Welcome to Dream Views! This is the place to be for anyone wanting to learn how to lucid dream. There is no quick answer to your question, but the Dream guide team is here to help you navigate the forum and answer questions. We all have 3 green stars above our avatar. Click on our user name and you can then select private message if you have a question, or you can start new threads. Don't worry about starting threads that have been started before, just try it out, if it ends up in the wrong place one of us can move it for you.

One thing you can do in a post is place a link to another thread. I have done this below. You can click on the colored words to see the new thread. Start with this extra basic one, it will help you read the acronyms in other posts, Help With Acronyms For Complete Beginners

After that one the very first thing you should do is check out basic tutorials. This one covers most of the terms you will see members using in much more depth, so start here, http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/

Also be sure to check out the DVA Dream Views Acadamy, click on this link to get there, DV Academy.

Matte , our Dream Guide team leader runs a general lucid dreaming class, and you can join in contests where you gain points for dreams you have. General Lucid Dreaming (Matte87)

Gab , another Dream Guide runs a class that is very valuable to beginners on MILD/DILD, which is by far the best method to start with. DILD (Hukif and gab)

Finally as far as the DVA stuff goes, there is a class on introduction to lucid dreaming. This is a great place if you are just starting out and need a little personal help. Intro Class (OpheliaBlue, RareCola, CanisLucidus, Chimpertainment, Xanous)

Now, on the lighter side, you may be excited to learn to fly! Here is a thread where people explain how they went about learning to fly, http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/can-u-...u-learn-40468/

Then just for a laugh here is a thread where people list all the things they want to do in an LD. It is mostly light hearted and supposed to be funny, http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/1000-t...-dream-104556/

Have fun and good luck with your dreaming!
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.

Thanks for your interpretation, DalaBudz. I am actually not a person that enjoys 'destroying friendships' I swear. But lately a really important friendships of mine has ended, and in Italian 'passion' also means 'great pain'. Maybe the greates pain of mine is friendships that fade to an end...
Sigh, I wonder how will I get to ask my subconscious which my 'truest passion' is if I might end up with finding hurtful facts everytime, haha!
Paigeyemps, maybe it was just a random thought my subconscious wanted me to be aware of. Actually, I just remember doing a reality check, I think the dream began just like that. But I tell you, it was like seeing a movie: I wasn't lucid at all, plus when I asked that thing to my subconscious I did it in an odd way my lucid self wouldn't, and I reacted in strange ways. Or is it normal to behave differently in lucids? Because I sounded and acted like a whole different person.
Thank you Oceandrop, and good luck you you, Michael073!
Also, thank you a lot sivason! You've been very helpful.
