      G'Day!

      Hey all,

      I'm a 17 year old Aussie

      The name is Marcus.

I'm fairly new to Lucid Dreaming with only a few attempts made here and there.
I've recently become much more serious and am in the process of restarting a DJ to get me back on track to increase vividness and dream recall.

Feel free to share any simple little tips for the beginners!

      - All I can add is that a bit of sugar such as in a sprite etc. will make for some amazingly wild dreams!

In America, everything is made of sugar.

Get 8 hours of sleep a night
      Keep a good DJ

Two basics. I believe that they are the basics of having good, long, vivid dreams.

      Hi Marcus!

I'm new here too. I'm 20 years old, and trying to get back on track with my dream studies.

Oh btw I heard cheese helps

Hey thanks guys Aha Brandon I'm afraid when I was over in the US I hated the food! I have never tasted so much salt and sugar in my life in just one bit of food. You guys have sugar in your burger buns :S

Is it cheddar cheese that they say helps?

Yes. It is ridiculous. My wife tries to eat healthy, especially now that she is pregnant, and it is freaking expensive to get healthy food here.

      Hey MKilby!

Welcome to the site, I m still fair new too and I m enjoying it a lot.

I think the key for LD is you...meaning there is lots of techniques and tips you can read, but I think the best tip is that you alone are the one that has all the capabilities for acheiving LD...So read about the tips, but don t loose perspective and believe in you first before believing in the techniques.

Maybe at the end you eat cheese to increase your dream and you end up increasing your dreams because you said to yourself cheese would do it but finally that was you saying "cheese will do it" that did it...

      Welcome Aussie!

I noticed your opinion on sugar, I don't want to crush it but I have to tell you mine opnion before you start drown yourself in sugar.

The thing is that sugar is in a scientist's eyes killing awareness. Try to be sugar free for a month and well it will be hard if you are addicted to sugar, but when you are free for ok let's say just a day notice your awareness, then drink a soda, wait some minutes and notice the difference. In most cases people will feel more tired, the reason is that sugar spikes your awareness for a short moment but then drops to lower levels than before. It takes four hours before the sugars effects stops though and perhaps during those four hour your awareness is spiked in dreams, who knows.
In my experience I have noticed that when I skip that one soda or cookie (lol) I have a higher success rate when it comes to lucid dreaming.

But that's just MY experience and MY truth, so if you get lucid drams easier by eating sugar then you should of course do it! I just wanted to make you huhu (aware) of this possible outcome of sugar.

Here is a video that explains a little more in depth though: Tom Campbell Q&A (6 of 8) Beach, Sugar and its Effects on Consciousness - YouTube

Feel free to ask about anything you want to know in the future though, sorry for bashing your idea of sugar though But as I said before, my truth might no be your truth so the important thing is that you really test it before trusting it.

Sweet dreams and enjoy your stay! :sleepmediate2:

      Thanks guys

yanickma yes I have found a lot of things tend to do well when I change my perspective, instead of just acting reliant on an external source, thanks mate!

Aha it's all good mate, I am not a sugar addict at all, I keep an extremely healthy diet (sport and general well being reasons) but every now and then a bit of sugar doesn't hurt
Thanks for the video I'll have a look into this and you may well be right with the adverse effects of sugar. Though I've had some very very vivid dreams experimenting with it so far. So would that extend to most sugars, such as if you were to take a milk or honey before bed?

      Cheers

Oh I just noticed that I called you Aussie xD Sorry MKilby ^-^

That's the thing that Campbell is talking about, we are all sugar addicts! It's in a sense a mild drug it's just that we are so addicted and used to it in everything we eat so that we simply not notice what happens when it's NOT in our system. Think of that fresh feeling when you have really been sleeping for a long time and wake up peacefully, that's the state of mind we would have at all times if we didn't eated sugar every hour perhaps every minute ..

Although it's impossible to avoid sugar compeltley because it is in everything we eat and one reason for that is because sugar is sweet and sweet sells! (huhu) Sweet..

But I drink soda and eat sugar of course, but well it's good to be aware of this information so you don't judge yourself for not having a lucid dream when have had a birthday cake or something.

And yes try honey and things like that, even fruit and juce because fructose is sugar. Have fun with it and HAHA.. Sweet dreams!

Welcome to Dream Views! This is the place to be for anyone wanting to learn how to lucid dream. There is no quick answer to your question, but the Dream guide team is here to help you navigate the forum and answer questions. We all have 3 green stars above our avatar. Click on our user name and you can then select private message if you have a question, or you can start new threads. Don't worry about starting threads that have been started before, just try it out, if it ends up in the wrong place one of us can move it for you.

One thing you can do in a post is place a link to another thread. I have done this below. You can click on the colored words to see the new thread. Start with this extra basic one, it will help you read the acronyms in other posts, Help With Acronyms For Complete Beginners

After that one the very first thing you should do is check out basic tutorials. This one covers most of the terms you will see members using in much more depth, so start here, http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/

Also be sure to check out the DVA Dream Views Acadamy, click on this link to get there, DV Academy.

Matte , our Dream Guide team leader runs a general lucid dreaming class, and you can join in contests where you gain points for dreams you have. General Lucid Dreaming (Matte87)

Gab , another Dream Guide runs a class that is very valuable to beginners on MILD/DILD, which is by far the best method to start with. DILD (Hukif and gab)

Finally as far as the DVA stuff goes, there is a class on introduction to lucid dreaming. This is a great place if you are just starting out and need a little personal help. Intro Class (OpheliaBlue, RareCola, CanisLucidus, Chimpertainment, Xanous)

Now, on the lighter side, you may be excited to learn to fly! Here is a thread where people explain how they went about learning to fly, http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/can-u-...u-learn-40468/

Then just for a laugh here is a thread where people list all the things they want to do in an LD. It is mostly light hearted and supposed to be funny, http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/1000-t...-dream-104556/

Have fun and good luck with your dreaming!
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.
