      Hello, world!

      Hello, I am audiovisual.

I'm glad I signed up for these forums. I've been on this site looking up information for years, and it has proven to be the most thorough site.

I have had a number of lucid dreams in my life (~10), all within the last several years. It all started when I had a natural OBE that led into a lucid dream. I was completely confused, but fortunately this event led me to find out about lucid dreaming.

I have seen Inception and Waking Life. Waking life is probably my favorite movie.

I hope to improve my ability to lucid dream greatly, to the extent that I have lucid dreams multiple times each week. With this I hope to improve my stability and clarity within the dream world, and to explore the infinite within, learning whatever I can to improve my sleeping and waking lives.

      Thanks for reading.

      Welcome audiovisual!

I am glad you signed up and I just have to say that both your avatar and username inspired me greatly!

The username because I am making music (audio) and have been wondering what I could do to make the music more fun to listen to while watching it on youtube since I can't afford expensive musicvideos, but when I say audiovisuals it hit me. I make visuals match the audio! So thanks for that haha!

And the avatar because I like cats and dimensions so the avatar basically shows mutiple dimensions of a cat xD I think too much

Anyway by joining the forum yourself you can both easily get help for any of your struggles and also easily help others. Believe it or not but I actually learn more when people ask me a question than if I ask one, because it forces me to think through the answer and understand the meaning behind it.

I hope you enjoy your stay and I wish you sweet dreams about cats

Welcome to Dream Views! This is the place to be for anyone wanting to learn how to lucid dream. There is no quick answer to your question, but the Dream guide team is here to help you navigate the forum and answer questions. We all have 3 green stars above our avatar. Click on our user name and you can then select private message if you have a question, or you can start new threads. Don't worry about starting threads that have been started before, just try it out, if it ends up in the wrong place one of us can move it for you.

One thing you can do in a post is place a link to another thread. I have done this below. You can click on the colored words to see the new thread. Start with this extra basic one, it will help you read the acronyms in other posts, Help With Acronyms For Complete Beginners

After that one the very first thing you should do is check out basic tutorials. This one covers most of the terms you will see members using in much more depth, so start here, http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/

Also be sure to check out the DVA Dream Views Acadamy, click on this link to get there, DV Academy.

Matte , our Dream Guide team leader runs a general lucid dreaming class, and you can join in contests where you gain points for dreams you have. General Lucid Dreaming (Matte87)

Gab , another Dream Guide runs a class that is very valuable to beginners on MILD/DILD, which is by far the best method to start with. DILD (Hukif and gab)

Finally as far as the DVA stuff goes, there is a class on introduction to lucid dreaming. This is a great place if you are just starting out and need a little personal help. Intro Class (OpheliaBlue, RareCola, CanisLucidus, Chimpertainment, Xanous)

Now, on the lighter side, you may be excited to learn to fly! Here is a thread where people explain how they went about learning to fly, http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/can-u-...u-learn-40468/

Then just for a laugh here is a thread where people list all the things they want to do in an LD. It is mostly light hearted and supposed to be funny, http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/1000-t...-dream-104556/

Have fun and good luck with your dreaming!
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.

Perhaps one of you can point me in the right direction:

In trying to lucid dream with the WBTB method, I often enter sleep paralysis (or at least some sort of noticeable transition) 2-5 times before I eventually stop intentionally staying still and end up falling asleep non-lucidly. For this reason all of my WILDS have been practically accidental, or resulted from becoming "lucid" during the paralysis to late hypnogogic phase, and occured later in the morning.

Also, I have a remee, and have not had a lucid with it yet, but I may try to use it as I WILD to remind me to be lucid.

I read somewhere the biggest mistake people tend to make when attempting a WILD is focusing to much on getting into SP. Apparently the SP is suppose to just happen while your focusing on your mind. I don't really know I tried doing WILDS many times and just failed enough for me to switch to a new method. GL

One key thing that beginners overlook is that you MUST fall asleep. With practice you stay concious for the first few minutes of sleep, and with much practice you can flat out stay concious for an hour or more in true sleep. The fact that most can only stay concious for a few minutes is why WBTB is so important, so you can get lucky and have REM hit in that first few minutes. Wether you can only stay concious for 3 minutes or 2 hours, you MUST fall asleep.

Yeah but the problem is WBTB makes it hard to fall back asleep, at least it does for me. I seem to stay up for an hour doing WBTB after waking up for 10m. Not really sure what I am doing wrong.

You could try 25 mg of Benadryl (diphenhydramine) it may have different brand name in each country, but it is a very common pharmacy item, as common as tylenol (acetaminophen). It is just a low dose of anti-histamine used for allergy or as a sleep aid. If you take it before bedtime it will still be active after about 5 hours, so it will make going back to sleep easier. The dose is so low that it will not ake you sleep overly deep, and it does not impare your mind at all.

Also, you may want to stay awake only a few minutes and do not fully wake yourself for the WBTB. I think waking up a bit helps me so I do not accidently slip into unconciousness, but if you can not get to sleep, you can not WILD, so only partially awaking for only a coupe minutes may be the answer for those who have trouble sleeping.
