Yes, it's best to give one method sufficient time for it to start working. And yes again, you will have better chance for a WILD after some experience with DILDs.

WBTB is actually something that helps both WILDs and DILDs, not an induction technique. It wakes you up at night and gives awareness in any type of a dream better chance.
The reliability - that's something everybody has to figure out on his own, because it's different for everybody.
DEILD is a short version of WILD. Which means, you can experience same sensations and hallucinations as with WILDing.
The thing is, main methods are all used at different times, so they don't clash with each other. DILD is something you hope for while sleeping normally. For a WILD, you wake up for a WBTB, or you take a nap. WBTB also hightens your chance for a DILD.
DEILD is something you take advantage of when you wake up, but you still more asleep than awake. So you can read all the tutorials and be ready when conditions are right, especially for a DEILD. (for DEILD, also read up on WILD).
