      Talking Hello! New here.

Hi guys! I'm new here . I have heard about lucid dreaming a while back, but never really got the motivation to actually put effort into it, because I knew it is a lot of work. I ended up not thinking about it for a while, but about a month ago, I started getting back into researching all about lucid dreaming. Now I am determined to actually put forth the effort. I have been practicing the basics for almost two weeks now (reality checks, dream journal, and trying out a few different methods), but I need some advice.

I feel like I know well enough about most of the common methods for lucid dreaming; WILD, MILD, WBTB, DEILD, and DILD. So far I have had one lucid dream, that only lasted about 10 seconds, because I got excited and didn't let the dream stabilize (although it was an awesome experience). That dream was because of a DILD. I have also tried a couple other methods: WILD, WBTB, and DEILD.

After doing much, much research, I have come to the conclusion that I should probably set my mind on just one method for a couple of weeks, and only focus on that. I feel like I would really like to learn to WILD, because it is such a powerful method, but it would probably take a long time to master. I feel like I need to have a good amount of successful lucid dreams first, before I start to try and tackle WILDing.

So my question is, what method do you think I should use to start out? Which one is most effective/reliable? I am thinking either WBTB, or DEILD. Or should I try to do WBTB with WILD? What do you think?

      Thanks!

Welcome to the DV community, ber5897! I hope your stay here is very pleasent.

It's great you've already started keeping up with a steady Dream Journal and working with Reality Checks. You're first month or so into it can be the most difficult, and tackling some of these methods at a begginner can be quite a bit infuriating, but keep on!

Since you are a begginner, I would keep up with what you're doing now. Keep in mind some people are more naturally talented to others, some people can WILD immediately, some take effort. Also, there is always much more to learn, and there is loads of available content here at DV.

To answer your question, I would currently practice General Awareness/Self Awareness right now. This will largely help you succeed in DILD's, which is a great place to start. However if you're looking to attempt a DEILD or WBTB/WILD I would consisder this:WILD (Sageous)
Note: It will require time and dedication! Expectation is key, and maintain a positive attitude (You're doing great so far.)

WILD may be a little more advanced, but it should always be used with WBTB. DEILD Will take some practice, but you can attempt it with combinations of other techniques. Both are roads to success, and you will experience more. Everyone has their preferences, and what works best for them, as I'm sure you'll find the same for yourself.

Congratulations on your work done so far - we'll be here to assist you in your efforts. Feel free to ask more questions,

      Happy Dreaming!
      Goals: For now, exploration!.

Yes, it's best to give one method sufficient time for it to start working. And yes again, you will have better chance for a WILD after some experience with DILDs.

WBTB is actually something that helps both WILDs and DILDs, not an induction technique. It wakes you up at night and gives awareness in any type of a dream better chance.

The reliability - that's something everybody has to figure out on his own, because it's different for everybody.

DEILD is a short version of WILD. Which means, you can experience same sensations and hallucinations as with WILDing.

The thing is, main methods are all used at different times, so they don't clash with each other. DILD is something you hope for while sleeping normally. For a WILD, you wake up for a WBTB, or you take a nap. WBTB also hightens your chance for a DILD.

DEILD is something you take advantage of when you wake up, but you still more asleep than awake. So you can read all the tutorials and be ready when conditions are right, especially for a DEILD. (for DEILD, also read up on WILD).

Welcome. I think you have had a great start. Research everything before starting, practice doesn't make perfect, but it does make permanent.

I would recommend getting enough sleep and make sure you dream journal everything. Some people have trouble finding their dream signs. Look for subtle things. I just found out that rooms in my dreams all have less then 10 items in them. There is also never more than 2 people with me in almost all my dreams. Make sure to write down the things that should have made you lucid. These may not make you lucid later, but it will increase awareness.

Very glad you decided to join. Hope your endeavor here goes well and you learn a lot. Ask me if you need anything. Good luck.
