I appreciate this sentiment moSh. I agree with it about 50%. The other 50% I feel that once you build a habit, the mind may respond favorably. True, the habit of lucid dreaming in this scenario is with the aid of a device, and so may require that aid as you mention, but you may just get your mind into the habit of becoming lucid. You may tickle the logical part of your brain while dreaming often enough to set it off more often.
I'm not a natural lucid dreamer. I have about 1 per month, and lately they have been 10 seconds or less. Grrrrrrr! If you track them, you could tell if you begin to have slightly more per month. 1.1 is a 10% gain over just 1 per month. That only gives you 1.2 more per year, and tracking like this would hardly make a scientific study. My lucid count has increased this year over last with only one of those lucids attributed to an outside force.
Anyway, I hear your concern; I would be willing to try any device to increase my lucid count though.
