Hi guys & girls,
you can call me valiant, as I don't want to use my real name, out of personal and professional reasons
age 28 and from the Netherlands
I'm a musician-music producer, also a martial artist, studied a variety of disciplines like
kickboxing, taekwondo, ninjutsu, reiki, yoga & tai-chi, etc. also the historical cultures & thoughts behind them.
emphasis on study instead of actually practicing them routinely to be more than intermediate haha
I've been pretty much a movie and music fanatic all my life, also science and sci-fi has interested me all my life.
Was studying in college to become an analyst in the bio-technology field and at 3 out of 4 years was forced to quit.
Did 5 years of hard manual labor in factories & depots etc to expand my music hobby & gear to build my professional home studio from where I now work
As you can imagine with all these interests came it's shares of (day)dreams and imaginations.
basically I dream up/imagine music and try to recreate it into reality the best I can
I knew of the term lucid dreaming, but not what it exactly was, now that I've been reading up in more details, the other terms I don't have much of a clue yet.
On my own dreams I've grownup always knowing that dreams holds meanings, messages and manifestations of the sub-conscience. Due to always discussing it with my parents from childhood, also my roots are indian by the way.
As in bombay not apache
and from what I've read so far lucid dreaming is pretty rare or hard to accomplish, however
I honestly am aware of every or should I say most dreams, when they occur, regardless of being able to remember them
just like a daydream, whether I just see it as a movie or actually participate with control or create a dream scenario of a situation (much like a pre-view or flight simulator where you practice your options or choices, calculate the outcome, rewind try again till you get the best satisfied result/end, and move to the next)
Even in nightmares, sure I'm faced with some degree of terror but there is always that camera switching going on that makes me realize it's a dream from the get go. In case the camera is/becomes constant or fixed like in real-life perspective, then to me something is wrong, like the nightmare is turning up a notch, and I go in survival mode grabbing every resource I can to survive, often using excessive methods just to make sure.
but in real-life I'm a pretty peaceful guy, I don't even swat flies I guide them to the window.
Though in the dream I deem it as a resource in survival and I don't regret it, and the scary part about being conscience about all this is, should something similar happen in real life I might be quick to choose that mode as an option, since I know it works
but mostly when I enter a dream I have feeling or thought like "hmm I wonder what this dream will be about"
and when the setting or scene becomes apparent, then I take the wheel, taking some action or thinking up another option or twist, or just play the video out the end saying "that was weird" or what's that about" even "I knew that would happen"
I actually can't recall having them any other way, I mean if the camera is off, I simply don't dream anything.
Now maybe what I described above is known as 'normal' but probably not as I haven't read them on the net yet
But I'm sure it's all named/mapped in dream or in psychologically terms by now in 2013 right?
sorry to make this introduction so long, as I'm just speaking my mind
but the reason I signed up here, is to find more about what changed after you wake from your dream
more precisely what you bring back... ofcourse this may sound a bit weird
to elaborate, sure in dreams we experience something, often memorable but other than that
for example 1) learning something that you didn't knew before the dream, and after you woke you acquired the knowledge or even be able to perform it. conclusion bringing knowledge back with you
or 2) genuinely waking up with sand on your feet or other physical matter or 3) wounds in a specific design and having that when you wake (might be meta-physical- mind makes it real or something like that) etc.
you know stuff like that bringing something back with you, I wonder if that is also known or even common
as I only met 2 other people who had experienced something like this,
I've experienced all 3 with nr 1 happening occasionally,
for example some japanese woman speaking a few lines, me not understanding her,
I just say to her "I have to go wake up, have to go to work"
pointing toward my wrist with no watch, setting-scene is medieval times japan, anyway longtime ago in the past
and I'm looking as the dreamversion of me is walking off, she stands with a sad face
"I'm thinking in my mind what the hell did I just say? that doesn't make any sense why would i say that even if it is a dream, wake up!? I'm not done yet, it can't be time yet
and what's with her and the sad crying face all of a sudden"
-I wake up slowly, just 5-6secs before my alarm went off (scared the shit out of me)
standing up thinking - (holy shit if i didn't walk off from the dream I would've slept through the alarm as I was in deep)
walked out of my bedroom and I could hear an echo from the last line she said to me (~30secs after waking),
so ran back into the room powered my cpu, googled it's meaning before I'd lose it, and it meant "please don't go yet"
and I'm like "you've got to be kidding" checked the spelling vice-versa it checked out
spend my time brushing my teeth saying lookin in the mirror "seriously you have to wake up to have to go to work" lol So not only did I hear an japanese line which I didn't hear before, but my sub-conscience was apparently keeping time so I didn't overslept, it was also the only occurrence of time-keeping and I never saw that woman in-dream again to apologise properly for leaving so abruptly. After this I took interest in japanese language as I seemed to dream about japan more, hoping to meet that woman again
I hope to find some info about such dreams on here, surely I can't be the only one that's been having them
thank you for reading all this, and any thoughts, fresh perspective or knowledge of how these are called would be appreciated, here or pm me
thanks glad to be able to discuss the content of dreams openly with a community ;D
