HI! new to boards but been trying for awhile!

      Hey all!
So i have been trying for a couple years off and on mostly off as i never got engaged with it until now. Last couple months i have been eager to get into it all. Had one LD so far but i hardly count it cause i was sooooo pumped i just woke up. Man!!! what a let down... havent had a hint of that since! Anyway been trying to work on dream recall which is hard for me. Also trying WILD and WBTB. I feel like i am close... I get that crazy feeling, the hum, and heavyness but then it goes away because my heart feels like its going to blast out of my chest. I try breathing slowly but come to find out that just brings me out of the state!! DOH. have just a few questions that when i check back in morning hopefully wont be applicable! but here goes anyway.

      1. When trying the WILD what happens if i have a dream before i wake up and i want to write it down but im suppose to stay still. Do you guys usually just chase the WILD or record the dream then try?

      2. When using things like Binaural Beats apps should i be trying to focus on the sounds or have it low volume and imagine stuff?

Anyway thanks for reading my big block'o'text, Going for another tonight...

      Hey

1: When WILD'ing, you need to basicly get up and do something and then go back to sleep and try to enter a dream. If you wake up and don't move and try to dream, it's called a DEILD. DEILD is far easier than WILD and I wouldn't bother with a single non-lucid dream if you want to achieve lucidity. Sometimes when chaining DEILD's, you have to risk losing some previous dreams.

2: The goal is to relax enough so that you fall asleep. Binaural beats are supposed to change the frequency of your brainwaves or something like that. Mimicking the same wavelengths we have during REM sleep. Try to have them on low volume and go on about your business.

I also suggest you try the DILD technique out. Even though you might not want to rely on it to get lucid primarly, it's a great technique to get your enthusiasm up and score a few random lucids during the night.

If you've got any more questions, don't hesitate to ask

I guess i got stuff confused. I have been trying the dream journal thing to increase my recall but it seems as though i need more work for DILD to work for me. Last night was rough... I kept getting the weird feelings/hum/fast heartbeat and this time i even got this crazy-cool feeling blackness and alot of spinning but it just does that for awhile then goes away. i tried to imagine stuff to set myself up but each time i do when my mind perceives i may be getting close it focuses on the change and destroys any progress i thought i made. Probably 10 or so attempts last night and i feel like i made progress but then i couldnt get back to sleep at all... like i forgot how to sleep... just laid in bed for an hour then woke up 3 hours later with no recalled dreams

Remember that you shouldn't WILD when going to bed. Do it after 4½-6 hours of sleep or during a nap instead. That way you will enter REM.

Welcome to Dream Views! This is the place to be for anyone wanting to learn how to lucid dream. The Dream Guide team is here to help you navigate the forum and answer questions. We all have 3 green stars above our avatar. Click on our user name and you can then select private message if you have a question, or you can start new threads. Don't worry about starting threads that have been started before, just try it out, if it ends up in the wrong place one of us can move it for you.

One thing you can do in a post is place a link to another thread. I have done this below. You can click on the colored words to see the new thread. Start with this extra basic one, it will help you read the acronyms in other posts, Help With Acronyms For Complete Beginners

After that one the very first thing you should do is check out basic tutorials. This one covers most of the terms you will see members using in much more depth, so start here, The Beginner's Guide to Lucid Dreaming

Also be sure to check out the DVA Dream Views Acadamy, click on this link to get there, DV Academy.

Matte , our Dream Guide team leader runs a general lucid dreaming class, and you can join in contests where you gain points for dreams you have. General Lucid Dreaming (Matte87)

Gab , another Dream Guide runs a class that is very valuable to beginners on MILD/DILD, which is by far the best method to start with. DILD (Hukif and gab)

Finally as far as the DVA stuff goes, there is a class on introduction to lucid dreaming. This is a great place if you are just starting out and need a little personal help. Intro Class (OpheliaBlue, RareCola, CanisLucidus, Chimpertainment, Xanous)

I hope to save you some time by giving you a link to a thread we all put together on the topic Sleep Paralysis. There has been so much misinformation and confusion on this topic, that after a few days on the sight, you would surely run into confusing statements refering to SP. Save yourself some frustration and read this post if you want to know about SP, Sleep Paralysis Explained

Now, on the lighter side, you may be excited to learn to fly! Here is a thread where people explain how they went about learning to fly, Can U Fly/ How Did You Learn?

Then just for a laugh here is a thread where people list all the things they want to do in an LD. It is mostly light hearted and supposed to be funny, 1000 things to do in a lucid dream!!!

Have fun and good luck with your dreaming!
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.

Success!!!!! Got a dild by realizing that my dog in my dream was dead but was alive in dream. .. instantly I tried flying and was able to but I was stuck in my house. .. so I used "the force" to rip a hole through my wall... I jumped out of the hole but it was nothingness so I got frustrated because I couldnt see/find myself... then I woke up into another dream but wasn't able to realize it. ... but omg its so exciting!!!! Can't wait for more! !!

Awesome! The experience of being aware in nothingness (not even a proper body) is even more amazing and weirder than flying, isn't it? Do not be frustrated when that happens, just enjoy the weirdness of it, like you are doing some alien program on a holi-deck (Star Trek). Altered states are highly saught after and can be a whole new aspect to your dreams. Beside, staying positive and calm allows you to potentially get back to a normal LD. Great job! The dead pet thing has got me lucid a few times too.

When I went into nothingness I was out my body .. it was as though I fell off a cliff in a video game and I left my body and just watched the abyss and the hole in the wall .... I don't know how to explain it but I didn't know how to get back to my body haha, anyway, I loved every second... being superman for 5 minutes feels so so so awesome
