Hi, I'm new here and I have a dream related question.

As is in the header I am new here. But I knew of this place for awhile as my girlfriend was intensely interested into lucid dreaming a few years ago. She would get mad at me for doing the monthly dream challenges so easily (being an insomniac makes it far too easy for me to go lucid)

My question deals with my dream last night as it ended very different then ever before. A DC booted me out of my dream...what was just as odd was the circumstances just before I was getting booted.

In my dream an attractive girl I would assume around my age with dark hair was really interested in me, lets call her DC1 (I dont remember if she told me her name or not, DC1 doesn't feel right but due to lack of info I guess it will work). Being a guy I was easily flattered by her attraction and I basked in it. She always had a friend with her that kinda looked like her, DC2. As time went on I felt increasingly guilty about DC1's attraction to me, so I blurted out I already had a girlfriend. This seemed to shock both of them. I felt bad about telling her but thought I should go and give, her time to think on it, as I turned I noticed DC1 was about to cry. I could hear her cry as I left (her tears that welled up from the disappointment and her cry all seemed too real to be just a dream) I walked a short ways and my guilt told me to turn around and comfort DC1. When I got back to her DC2 was comforting DC1. I told DC1 everything will be alright, she just looked up at me with her teary eyes told me to ''go'' then I woke up. It felt very strange that a DC woke me up, and the feelings just before waking up felt like she didn't tell me to go in order me to get away from her but rather so she could disappear. Being awoken so sorrowfully, I decided to go lucid and talk with her again...I created a nice bedroom to talk to DC1 in, and recreated her...but she felt and seemed different, I knew it was technically a different DC1. My question is, can a DC commit suicide by waking up the dreamer?

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

That's a nice story and nice LD. I wish I could interect with DCs like that.

What I think is, that for a DC to commit suicide by waking up the dreamer assumes, that DC is selfaware. Now, I do believe, that some DCs may be other dreamers or even independent entities. But I would be leaning towards the idea, that the dream just followed a scenario based on your knowledge.

Since you do know, that DCs are a creation of your mind and they cease to exist when you don't have your attention on them or when you wake up, this could have been used to direct your dream without your conscious knowledge/wish/approval.

If you browse a little, you will find, that DCs kicking the dreamer out is not so uncommon. Maybe someone with more experience will give you more insightful answer. Happy dreams

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

While I've never had a DC actually "boot" me out, DCs have given me quite a bit of grief.
It's fun to imagine and play around, but I personally don't believe in DCs being independent entities. You most likely had a lapse in dream control. From your story, you seem to have been luckier than most when it comes to lucid dreaming in general.

Hope you have a good time here at DV,

Welcome to Dream Views! This is the place to be for anyone wanting to learn how to lucid dream. The Dream Guide team is here to help you navigate the forum and answer questions. We all have 3 green stars above our avatar. Click on our user name and you can then select private message if you have a question, or you can start new threads. Don't worry about starting threads that have been started before, just try it out, if it ends up in the wrong place one of us can move it for you.

One thing you can do in a post is place a link to another thread. I have done this below. You can click on the colored words to see the new thread. Start with this extra basic one, it will help you read the acronyms in other posts, Help With Acronyms For Complete Beginners

After that one the very first thing you should do is check out basic tutorials. This one covers most of the terms you will see members using in much more depth, so start here, The Beginner's Guide to Lucid Dreaming

Also be sure to check out the DVA Dream Views Acadamy, click on this link to get there, DV Academy.

Matte , our Dream Guide team leader runs a general lucid dreaming class, and you can join in contests where you gain points for dreams you have. General Lucid Dreaming (Matte87)

Gab , another Dream Guide runs a class that is very valuable to beginners on MILD/DILD, which is by far the best method to start with. DILD (Hukif and gab)

Finally as far as the DVA stuff goes, there is a class on introduction to lucid dreaming. This is a great place if you are just starting out and need a little personal help. Intro Class (OpheliaBlue, RareCola, CanisLucidus, Chimpertainment, Xanous)

I hope to save you some time by giving you a link to a thread we all put together on the topic Sleep Paralysis. There has been so much misinformation and confusion on this topic, that after a few days on the sight, you would surely run into confusing statements refering to SP. Save yourself some frustration and read this post if you want to know about SP, Sleep Paralysis Explained

Now, on the lighter side, you may be excited to learn to fly! Here is a thread where people explain how they went about learning to fly, Can U Fly/ How Did You Learn?

Then just for a laugh here is a thread where people list all the things they want to do in an LD. It is mostly light hearted and supposed to be funny, 1000 things to do in a lucid dream!!!

Have fun and good luck with your dreaming!
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.
