Congratulations!
That first lucid dream is an incredibly special experience. Short or no, this is a memory you'll always carry with you.
My first LD was also a very short one, perhaps 30 seconds. Over time (and with enough practice) you'll learn to draw these experiences out for longer. anime's advice to "rub your hands together" is great. Basically, the trick is to engage yourself as deeply as possible with the dream scene. Examine your hands and surroundings closely. Feel the vividness of the skin-to-skin contact of your hands rubbing together.
Take time to marvel at how realistic it all is. You will amaze yourself and likely keep the dream far more stable.
The other issue you're dealing with is one of excitement and emotional control. I love lucid dreaming so much that I still deal with this myself, even after having many lucid dreams. This comes with practice. Again, grounding yourself in the scenery, taking everything in, rubbing your hands together, and calmly reminding yourself that it is your dream and nobody is in control but you.
If you are in the mood to explore further, you may enjoy enrolling in the "Intro Class" at the DreamViews Academy. That was my path when I first go to DreamViews and it did wonders for my progress. You can find the class here: Intro Class (OpheliaBlue RareCola CanisLucidus Chimpertainment Xanous) And feel free to PM me or any of the other Dream Guides if you need advice or assistance.
Congratulations again... very exciting!
