Cool New to lucid Dreaming.. used to sleep paralysis

      hey everybody!
I am James from Miami, 22 years old here. I found out last week that I have
"sleep paralysis" I've known all my life, but never knew there was a name for it.
I would often wake up and realize I couldn't move. I could control some fingers,
my eyes, and little neck movement. Anyhow, most of you know how it works, but
I happened to get a hold of a very calming and informative message by a youtuber
called GizEdwards in which he spoke of WILD and other things. After following his
advice I tried to "WILD" the first night to induce my sleep paralysis and to hopefully
be able to lucid dream. I failed terribly the first time, but I didn't give up. The next day I tried
again and this time it worked! The "buzzing" sensation I get when I enter sleep
paralysis got a hold of me and this time I didn't fight it. Then "I got up" from bed
feeling very "light". As Giz told me I did a reality check and looked at my fingers, which
were too long to be real, so I knew I was "lucid dreaming". It lasted for what seemed
5 minutes, then I said to myself "this is awes..." I woke up .. -_-' 1 hours had really passed..
I tried to control my dream into making and old friend that passed away "appear" before
me but I knew that was a long shot and it didn't happen, but I am so happy to know that
my condition is not that much of a trouble as I always have thought of it. I hope to meet
other people and share stories as new experiences happen.

Yo and congrats on using that technique.
I myself using WILD alot too, during my naps, and even when i don't reach it i get some DILDs along the way. Though, i am using different WILD technique since i don't have ISP.
When you do dream control you need to actually expect and believe that it will happen, the fact that you were not sure that you will be able to do it made it not happen. Check out this tutorial for more info about dream control: Dream Control Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views
Also you could use stabilization techniques to prolong your lucid dreams, Dream Stabilization and Clarity Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views , i personally prefer 'Engaging sense' and 'Rubbing hands' ones.
Good luck on your journey into the lucid dreaming!

      Welcome to DV, James!

and yes I agree with Checker. It is important to believe in yourself when you try to control your dream. When you are in the dream, you are all thoughts. And any doubtful thought could hinder you from attaining your goal.

If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. Cheers.

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

If you already getting SP - when you can't move, just wait for it to happen and WILD then. No need to try and induce it. When it happens by itself when you waking up, that's the best time to use it, since you are still very relaxed from your sleep, as opposed to trying to induce it before sleep.
