      New to Lucid Dreaming!

      Hello everyone,

My name is Lars-Erik, and I am a 23 year old student from Norway.
Started reading about lucid dreaming 2 days ago and the same night when I went to sleep I remember a dream where I think im dreaming and when i realize that I start counting my fingers(after reading tips here that same day about RC), and to my astonishment I had no fingers, only short "knuckles" about 1 cm long! That is when i realize im dreaming and then I think i woke up. Does this sound like a tiny LD?

This morning I started my DJ. Could only write about 2 sentences and 5-6 words that could describe the dream I had.
You guys have any quick tips to a newcomer how to speed things up and get to a LD dream quickly?

I have started counting my fingers about 20 times a day or so to get a RC going.

Looking forward to great lucid dreams in (hopefully!) near future!

      Welcome wEEtoZ!

That does, indeed, sound like a tiny lucid dream. You got to the 'ah-hah!' moment and then probably woke up from the excitement. The trick is getting from that realization to continuing on in the dream itself.

With your dream journal, make sure you give yourself the time to think through your dreams in the morning. Being in a rush to get to work, school, or whatever, can switch your brain's recall right off. Next, be consistent and write in it every day. Recall and lucid dreaming, in general, takes persistent effort to improve at.

Keep excited, think about what you will do in your dreams, read up on a couple of techniques here you will try for some time and you will be on your way. Everyone goes at their own pace, so there's no cheat sheet I can give you just yet.

      Hey there wEEtoZ!

You guys have any quick tips to a newcomer how to speed things up and get to a LD dream quickly?
There's no fast ways to achieve lucidity. Remember that you're rewiring your brain to question reality, something that practically no people does (unless Buddhist monks it seems ?). It takes conscious effort to lucid dream, so consistent practice and motivation will be your best tools to reach this state. The experience you had was indeed a lucid dream, so congratulations Also, don't worry about the length of your dream reports: they will increase with time and experience. If you got any more questions just post them away

      Thanks everyone!

Now I am looking forward to every night and morning when I write down my dreams!
The past 3 days now ive found my self dreaming about alot of stuff, but I might have found somthing that may be in common of each of them. In every dream that ive had since I started this I have been playing some sort of game, either a computer game or like yesterday, chess. I will continue this DJ and see whether its a sign or what

wow I envy you for the fast progress, I seem to struggle a lot more
But I also remember having a LD right away when I first seriously learned about it, simply because of the excitement and knowing that its possible. Don't be disappointed when not all of your dreams are lucid, I've found that even just the filling of the DJ is an experience worth having. Have fun and good luck

That definitely is a lucid dream. You were aware that you are dreaming. And don't sweat the fact that you woke up soon. That happens to many people when they first start. That kind of excitement can prematurely cause you to wake up. It just takes a little practice to stay sleeping after you realize that you are dreaming. Keep at it and good luck!
