      Post Who I am

Hey Everybody, Im new to DreamViews, Like i signed up for it yesterday. I been checking out lucid dreaming for about two weeks now. Havent had a lucid dream yet, although Im working for a DILD. I guess this is where I introduce myself, so... Im 15 abouta turn 16 and I live in Texas. I gotta question for anyone though- Ive been doing reality checks every 10 minutes IWL everyday for about a week and a half to induce a DILD. How long should it take to get my first one?

Welcome to DV, OneUpBoy71! Unfortunately, there is no way to tell when you will be lucid: all of us become lucid at our own pace, also different techniques work for different people, so if one technique does not succeed for you in a week or two try another, although of course you should go to bed expecting to be lucid tonight - you can do it! When you do RCs, do you make sure to really question whether you are awake or asleep? Every 10 minutes is quite frequently, you may find that hard to sustain in the long run. Also it may be hard to take it seriously if it becomes just automatic, so you may want to do it less frequently, but with more invested in each time you question reality - really considering the implication that you could be dreaming right now. Best!

You may say I'm a dreamer.

Welcome I am 22 and live on the east side of the United States. DILD is my signature way that I become lucid, and I have come to the point where I go lucid almost every night. I have been doing this my whole life; the thing is, I can't remember when I started and it was by accident the first time it happened. It's become just the normal way that I dream. I have read stories of others trying to achieve one for the first time and from what I have read it seems to take most people anywhere from between a week to a month of trying. I personally have never done reality checks. I tried to start doing that when I was in high school but I never kept up with it. The way I lucid dream is I realize that everything doesn't feel normal (the way a dream feels is not the same as how real life feels), then when I've realized that, I start paying attention to my surrounds and discover the setting I'm in doesn't exist in real life (I never dream about real places and when I rarely do it's never a perfect replication) and I figure out that I must be dreaming. Realizing dreams this way tends to be easier if I have had the dream before in the past. You seem to be keeping up with the reality checks so you should keep doing that, and If you want you can try it the way I do it too to see which way you like better or if it is easier for you. Hope I helped
