      Lightbulb Lucid Dreaming Attempt Two!

I'm new to this website but not new to the idea of lucid dreaming. About a year ago I read about lucid dreaming, it interested me so I committed myself to try and have a lucid dream. First I tried basic methods like MILD, did reality checks, and kept a dream journal. No success whatsoever. The only thing that had any affect was the reality checks and even then they did not work because when I did them in a dream nothing special would happen... So then I saw a tutorial on the WILD induction method. I thought it would be easy for me since I can sit still for long periods of time, and it was easy for me. I did successfully have a lucid dream which consisted of me throwing root beer at my father while 20 feet off the ground in my grandmothers neighborhood. As you would expect I was very happy that I had my first lucid dream, so I tried again the next night. Unfortunately I had no success this time. After about 15 minutes of lying there I began to get REALLY bad itches all over my body, I tried to bear them but I just couldn't take it any longer. I tried a few more nights but with the same results... eventually I gave up.

So now I've decided to give it another shot. So if anyone had some tips from experience (preferably with the WILD method) that would be great!

P.S. I have no clue how to change my profile picture so if someone could tell me how that would be great.

Well, I am pretty experienced with WILDs now, after a lot of practice. So, my advice here is, if you have an itch scratch or if you need to swallow, swallow. It won't ruin your attempt at WILD, you can easily fall back into what I call "the state". And what I call the state, is the point at which I know I'm going to WILD or at least go into rem atonia and from rem atonia, I can WILD pretty easily. Then my next advice would be to figure out a good time to WILD. I know, for me anyway, I can't just WILD anytime. So, I've found the best time, for me, is to wake up during my morning rem cycles and get up for about an hour. Just to give a sense for how long I sleep for let's say I usually go to sleep at 2AM and get up at 7:30, then stay awake for an hour. So, after five and a half hours of sleep I get up for an hour and then I'm able to easily fall into the state that I need. So, find a good time for you and then don't be afraid to itch those scratches swallow, etc. All the lay down hold still methods, are quite outdated.

Oh and you can change your profile stuff by going to control panel up at the top of the page and then once there on the left there's all the settings like change profile settings, profile picture, etc. Anyways, good luck with your attempts at WILD, if you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

Those itches I believe is your mind trying to see if your still awake, sort of testing you. I only had the itch thing a few times. I would acknowledge it and even imagine my dream body itching it and it'd help to stay in a meditative state.

Keep in mind your mindset plays a part in it as well.
If you think you can't, you won't. That dream journal you kept is the most important part in my opinion. It helps build up the ability to memorize what you would normally just forget, Recall.

Kraom's right on the swallowing as well. Took me forever to get that...

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

You could try MILD again, only this time you could add some DILD into the mix. It's more potent. WILD is a great technique and so much fun to do, but it's recommended to do after at least a few DILDs. Mostly because mental preparation that we do for a DILD is very helpful for WILDs as well. Good luck and ask if you have any questions.

here are our basic tutorials Induction Methods and Techniques
and this is a very detailed WILD that will explain it all WILD

      Welcome
