Hello all, I've been interested in lucid dreams ever since I came across the idea of it a few years ago (around 2010). After writing in a dream journal a few times with little success, I gave up, and have recently decided to attempt lucidity again.

For the majority of my life I have found that I can remember dreams very well without much effort, and often remember multiple dreams from a night, but have never really been lucid. I've had one memorable short lucid dream from when I was trying it out in 2010, but it was only maybe 5 minutes and didn't really do it for me. I personally find that I have more dreams when I nap, or WBTB (which I have been doing for a while without knowing it's actually a thing) versus sleeping through the whole night. I find I wake up naturally a couple times a night - which might be the reason why I can remember multiple dreams a night.

Story time:

Two days ago I went for an afternoon nap, and I decided to put in earplugs and put on a sleeping mask (I'm a university student in residence). I had a strange experience that I think was an OOBE of some sort, and I think that the sleeping mask and earplugs helped me to achieve what I now understand to be called WILD. When I went to bed to take this nap I was just thinking about things and trying to relax and eventually I realized I was experiencing a sort of zero gravity and I could see my hands and feet while I was sitting there floating and thinking. Once I realized I was in a dream (I realized this because I could see even though I knew I had a sleeping mask on), I realized I was in my room floating and I had the idea of looking back at my body (I had been researching lucidity and Astral Projection and such quite a bit before this nap). My view was obstructed by something but I could make out the lump in my bed that I assumed was my body, which made me incredibly excited and scared at the same time, which caused me to wake up. When I woke up I quickly realized it had been some sort of false awakening because I could still see, and I couldn't move, so I assumed I was in Sleep Paralysis and waited for it to end. When I awoke I did multiple tests to see if I was really awake, and looked at the clock and only ten minutes had passed.

Now, I'm not sure what to call this experience... Could it have been a short lucid dream? If anyone knows or knows what the best way to attempt to start lucid dreaming is for me, it would be appreciated!

I look forward to becoming a part of this community and hopefully increasing my chance of lucidity!
