Welcome to DreamViews, eden!
Personally, I have only read Stephen LaBerge's famous book "Exploring The World of Lucid Dreaming", which I enjoyed very much. I'm sure others would be able to make other recommendations. But really, the most up-to-date information you are going to get is right here on this site, where we are all constantly experimenting and sharing results with each other.
Prolonging lucid dreams is something that all new and intermediate lucid dreamers are working on. It has to do with the timing of your lucid dreams, as well as dream control and stabilization. Above all, just keep practicing and your LDs will get longer. Also, try to see if you can work out any patterns in what happens right before you involuntarily exit a dream. Are you becoming aware of your physical body? Is the dream becoming unstable? Are you feeling any specific emotions? For instance, excitement is likely to raise your heart rate and end the dream, so it is important to find the balance between enjoying your dream to the fullest and becoming too excited.
You may have learned to stabilize your dream in the beginning, and a good technique for this is to engage all your five senses. Explore what's around you by touching, smelling, tasting, looking and listening. But try to do that throughout your dream. Whenever you feel that you are getting caught up in the action, or if you begin to feel disoriented or perhaps worried about something, go back to using your senses within the dream. When you are actively using your dream body, you won't be aware of your physical body, so you should be able to stay in the dream longer, and also avoid slipping into non-lucidity.
Have a look around the on-topic forums and feel free to post a question if you don't find what you need. You are also welcome to PM me or any of the other Dream Guides if you need help with anything.
