      Cool my new quest

I first became interested in lucid dreaming when I was only 12 or 13, but I'm 22 now and unfortunately I never got to the point where I could induce them at will, or sustain them for long when I did.

Every once in a while I'll have a "half lucid dream". I will know I'm dreaming, but my level of lucidity is not 100% since I still think like I am restricted and am totally sidetracked from any objectives I have.

My recall is also poor. I can't ever keep up with a dream journal. What will happen is I'll keep it for a few days and then forget about it. If I really feel that the dream I had was significant I will take the time to write it down and analyze it.

As for why I am so interested in lucid dreaming. I'd like to use them to fulfill fantasies that I have in the waking world that I cannot act out on and essentially just have fun. I guess that part is typical, but developing a new skills always makes me feel accomplished as well. I'm going to give the MILD method a shot tonight.

      Recall-
keep up with your dream journal. It will greatly improve your recall, because by thinking/writing your dreams, your mind will understand they are important to you. Use our DJ system if you like. YOu get 10 points for each entry and people may read and comment on it. It's fun.

      Lucidity-
improve your waking life awareness. It will make your LDs more aware.

Hey Dave, it's great that you're taking an interest in lucid dreaming again!

If you find it hard to keep up with writing a dream journal, you could try voice recording your dreams instead.
Even just taking quick notes of the people/places/themes can help with recall and identifying your dream signs (which can be used to trigger lucidity.)

Like gab said, the DV dream journal system is a great place for members to encourage and learn from each other. I hope you'll post some of your dreams!

Good luck and stick with it, lucid dreaming is definitely worth the effort!

hey!! you welcomed me, so I'm here to welcome you as well c:

I totally understand the half lucid feeling, as well as the recall issues. However, I believe simply involving yourself in the idea of lucid dreaming and thinking of it often helps bring them about! I've become involved in the idea again only within the last week, and haven't kept a dream journal in years, but have already had several nearly-lucid and lucid experiences!

I wish you a lot of luck in your dreaming goals and again welcome you to the community

Thank you for the suggestions, and yes I will take them. I think I'll be more willing to take a quick voice recording with my phone in the event that I wake up from a dream but want to go back to get right back to sleep. I'll check out the DV dream journal system as well if I really have a good dream that I'd like to share.

I was ruminating on a dream scene that I desired to have last night prior to bed. I did come to that realization that there is a connection between waking life awareness and awareness in dreams. Most people walk around like zombies and are totally out of it throughout their waking day so it makes sense that in a dream they'd be equally oblivious.

Hey, welcome! I was in the seventh grade when I first heard about lucid dreaming, but I've never been quite as serious about it as I am now, when I'm eighteen. I guess that happens. ^_^ If you have any questions, then just ask around. Someone here'll be able to help!

I actually think that DV's dream journal place is a bad way to start, as is any other computerized dream journal. Why? Because it's the Internet we're talking about! It's so easy to get side-tracked, and don't forget that neurons are constantly firing off your brain. What if your computer/phone/tablet/whatever freezes when you're trying to get here? Then you'll forget most of your dream, and you might not even realize it.

Soooo, I say have a DJ beside your bed at all times. Consciously remind yourself throughout the day to write in it the next morning (it's hard to get in this practice for a little while, but usually after a few days you're good). Then, if you want to come back here for this one, wait until you can remember about one dream per night.
      ~ until the very end
