      Taking Action... Finally

Hello all. I just found this site about 5 minutes ago while researching a symbol in the only dream I've had in a couple years (it's reoccurring). I was born a lucid dreamer and have been able to control my dreams, make conscious decisions in them, and wake me self up my almost my entire life. About 6 years ago I started having unimaginably terrifying and disturbing nightmares in which I felt everything from intense fear to intense physical pain, which I believe hindered my abilities. 1 year after that all I could do was realize i was in a dream and wake myself up. After a while I could no longer fight against them with lucid dreaming and lost my abilities completely. Soon after that, i stopped dreaming all together. I thought maybe it was the last resort of my lucid dreaming ability in my subconscious to block out my dreams completely to stop the nightmares. I want to regain my abilities but have no idea how. How can you lucid dream without any dreams to control in the first place? I've never had any training or ever received any information on how to lucid dream. Will I even be able to learn? Why did this happen to me in the first place? Can someone please help me?

      Welcome to the forum!

Sorry to hear about your nightmares. Yes, you'll definitely be able to relearn your abilities. Here's a good thread about dream recall: http://www.dreamviews.com/dream-sign...ompendium.html

The subject of natural lucid dreamers is a hard one. In my opinion, I think that you and other naturals constantly question your reality without realising it, and thus become lucid every night. It would be considered second nature to you. There are a few naturals around the site, so don't worry, you're not alone. ^o^

If you have any questions, ask around and we'll help.

AstralMango's links are a great way to start. Just remember that you are still dreaming, you just can't remember them. I hope you find what you're looking for here!
