      Hello everyone

Finally took the time (/cough 30 seconds) to register :-)

I've only recently (last 4 months) taken Lucid Dreaming seriously. One of my very spiritual coworkers told me about it, and naturally my first reaction was 'Cool like the movie Dreamscape ?'

But for some reason the thought of Lucid dreaming stuck with me, and I started reading some books about it. Then I started reading about dreaming and dreams. Then books about consciousness and all of a sudden, the thought of this weird matrix-like world inside your own head didn't sound weird to me anymore.

So for the past couple of months I've been trying, on and off, to get into LD.
I've started and stopped keeping a dream journal, started again, and stopped again. I've written down some absolutely crazy and insane dreams, actually the majority of them (dreams from waking at 4 am) are downright batsh*t crazy. As in, I will never ever let anyone read my dream journal.

And I've come to terms with a couple of things:

      - I lack dedication
      - I lack determination
      - I'm a slacker
      - I know that if I really put my mind to it I could do this (*).
      - My family (wife and 2 kids) make a lot of noise in their sleep, jesus christ, a lot.
      - I have terrible sleeping patterns

(*) How do I know this?
Because the actual times I have tried to LD (using WILD and WBTB) I can rather easy get to the body falling asleep part and staying consious. The thing is, I actually like drifting in this twilight zone weirdness. The weird sensations, the incredible loud vibrations in my ears... And I always seem to forget to move forward from there :-)

Anyway, by registering here I'm hoping to jolt my commitment and determination a bit. Because that is what is keeping me from attaining my first real LD I believe. Well , that and real life stressy things I guess. So if you happen to see me here, don't be shy and give me a good kick in the nose while shouting 'FOCUS you slacker!'.

Welcome to dreamviews Bubblebee. I have lost a lot of my discipline too as you can see from the thread linked in my sig. haha I think we just have to deal with times in our lives where we have less control over those things. Maybe its a sign that you need to reorganize some things in your waking life to have a better pattern. That has worked for me so far. It helps out with having a less stressful life it seems. Maybe LDing will help you get more determination!

I am really impress you have gotten that far with WILD. That is as far as I have gotten in years of LDing. Some people are more inclined for it and you are one of them so keep it up!

Thanks for the welcome. I guess you're correct about the control and reorganising waking life. I'm hoping to improve my waking life first and foremost by really trying to get into LDing. A better and healthier sleep cycle for starters.

      Thanks for the kind words!

Welcome to the forum, fellow bee!

I also seem to have a bit of trouble with WILD sometimes, so I'm equally impressed/jealous that you're getting that far so quickly. And trust me, I know all about super crazy dreams, I definitely have my fair share. Still, sometimes even the craziest dreams are the most interesting, and you can definitely learn a lot from any dream.

Anyway, let us know if you have any questions, and come check us out in the IRC chat.

      Many thanks :-)

As of yesterday, I have again started with my dream journal, and i'm surprised that I got a very detailed dream from waking up at a set time (6am). Did not expect to have so much details ... I think i'm going to read up on ADA because i'd love to have a DILD experience. Sounds so much easier than trying to WILD / WBTB.

But I'm taking it slow, I know myself, to much expectations and wants kills my motivation faster than a lightning strike.

What do you guys talk about in IRC? Dreams etc?

Pretty much anything, though dreams are kinda the top priority (for obvious reasons ). But yeah, if you join, feel free to start a conversation about whatever. Most of us are on American time, but there's usually at least one person in there awake most times of the day.
