Talking Thinkintuit walks into the room and says "hey"

I grew up in Nova Scotia, lived in Vancouver for about 15 years, and currently reside in Sacramento with my wife, stepdaughter, and two cats. I love all the crazy, random (and maybe even meaningful) stuff that goes on in that inner multiverse we call dreaming. I've been into lucid dreaming since about the mid-to-late 1980's, but so far have never gotten my frequency of lucid dreams higher than about 1/month; I aspire to increase that considerably at some point...hopefully.

When I read The Lord of the Flies in high school, I identified strongly with both the scientist and the mystic; at this point my inner scientist/rationalist is ascendant. I am both attracted and somewhat unnerved by the more shamanic possibilities of dreaming. I (finally!) attended an afternoon workshop by Stephen LaBerge less than a year ago, which was thrilling. Other interests include: virtual reality, science, science fiction, gaming, open culture, spirituality, meditation, altered states.

I'm active on Google Plus and Twitter...but apparently I'm not allowed to link there until I've been active here for 7 days.

I first heard of this forum in Daniel Love's wonderful book Are You Dreaming? I'm here now because a) I was reminded of this forum's existence by Mr. Love's very exciting Kickstarter project for
The Lucid Dreamer's Guide to the Cosmos, which I am enthusiastically supporting, b) I miss the Lucidity Institute forum, which I used to participate in a lot for several years a rather long time ago. I'm not sure how much I'll participate here but I'm interested in checking the space out.

As far as I know I am not Mulkurul. Fnord.

      to Dreamviews!

I like your intro. Whoa, Laberge workshop? Can you tell us more? Preactically everybody here read his "bible", haha. Nice to hear that you found us through Daniel Love's Kickstarter. We have a few threads here by Daniel Love.

One about the lucid dreamer project http://www.dreamviews.com/general-lu...de-cosmos.html

And the other one is awesomely exciting Q&A thread http://www.dreamviews.com/general-lu...-dreaming.html

Not sure if we can replace your favorite Lucidity Institute forum, but I hope you will have fun here nevertheless. Maybe you can bring some topics from Lucidity forum over here so we can all discuss some new topics.

      Happy dreams

Thanks, Gab. Ah, the Lucidity Institute forum was so long ago I have no detailed memories of it. Unfortunately the forum is not archived.

The workshop was basically a 2 or 3 hour lecture by Stephen LaBerge at the SAND (Science & Nonduality) conference. It was actually a pre-conference workshop, I didn't go to the whole conference. He was very entertaining and enthusiastic, and went WAY overtime, and then kept taking additional questions from people afterwards. I barely made my bus back to Sacramento. It was a lot of fun. The best parts for me were him talking about significant lucid dreams he had, and what he learned from them, as well as giving some examples of dreams some of his research participants had.

There is a 20-minute Youtube video of LaBerge doing a SAND lecture from a few years earlier, which gives an idea of what part of the presentation was like: In Dreams Awake
