      Two questions

Ok, I have two questions at this time ;P

First one: What is the average/minimum/maximum amount someone may recall from a dream?

Second one: When/should I attempt to have lucid dreams?

      Thanks

Hey there, welcome to the forum!

Hmm tough question...I don't really know if there are any max/mins etc. to dream recall. Basically it's different for everyone. Some people recall nothing and assume they don't dream, others can recall several dreams a night.

For me, on a good night I will remember 2-3 dreams. Sometimes I will have nights where I can remember up to 6 or 7 dreams but that doesn't happen often. Other times, like last night, I will recall nothing.

You should begin a dream journal to improve your recall and better your chances at becoming lucid. Write down everything that you can about your dreams when you wake from them in the middle of the night or in the morning. It's better to write it down as soon as you can or else you risk forgetting it. You will notice that your dream recall will improve the more you journal.

Once you have increased your recall, you can go through your journal and begin to pick out dream signs that can possibly make you lucid. It is this simple act of trying to increase your awareness within a dream that should lead you to eventually become lucid. You may want to check into the adoptions program if you have lots of questions and are interested in some one on one help.

      Good luck!

      Ahh thankyou

I have rewritten and recorded my dream journal onto the forum now Another question, what sort of level-of-detail should I expect to get from dreams? Like fluidity, and details of events-wise. At the moment, they're really segmented, and I can't recall words/musical fragments, what important things look like etc. It's all very semantic. Thanks for the first reply, aquanina

That's normal, but it should greatly improve as you begin documenting your dreams more and your dream recall increases. You may want to try to set your alarm clock for 6 hours after you go to sleep, so that you can get up and write down your dreams. At this point you will be able to recall alot more specific details than you would if you were to wait until you woke up the next morning.

      Hi Wolffe,

      And welcome
I'm not an expert, rather a lucid beginner like you. Aquanina or the other Dream Guides can give you more valuable help.

My personal rule, that I guess is correct, is to write down every single detail that you can recall from any dream. Even details that might seem not useful can become actually useful for interpretation and as an exercise in dream recall (a necessary step towards LD).

As to interpretation, often it's the less relevant detail that leads to the final "solution" of a dream. As to LD, more you put on your dream journal, more dream signs can emerge later.

If your question was about how many details are in a dream, I think that every dream is a real world with every detail. It's up to our memory to recall each of them.

      Keep dreaming!
